China, India, Europe, and Japan have also seen their industrial numbers decline.
Since 1995 China alone has lost 25 million manufacturing jobs...compared to the U.S. losing only 10% as many in the same time.
Every industrialized society is losing manufacturing jobs.
Some claim that it is due to decreased demand.
My own opinion is that it is due to technology such as painting robots replacing painters on assembly lines.
But contrary to urban myth, it isn't as though one nation is losing manufacturing jobs while other nations are gaining them. Nope. Every nation of note is losing manufacturing jobs much as every industrialized nation lost agricultural jobs as farmers mechanized their food production with things like combines and tractors 70 years ago.
It's the same trend, just in a different field (manufacturing and IT instead of farming).
