Excellent post. I was on the USS Independence off the coast of Iran, and we were never given "the order" to go in and take our people back. It still pisses me off to this very day.

I suspect when former President Reagan passes away, the "real story" about why the Iranians released our citizens will FINALLY become public.

I was there, I know why. It wasn't to embarrass Jimmy Carter...it was to stop what Reagan was about to do to that dirtball country within 72 hours of being sworn in.

The worst President we have ever had.

I don't know about that. I thought Clinton was pretty bad too.

I sent an e-mail to the DNC and one to Kerry and one to Ike Skelton (my rep who is Dem) with the subject title "You're Killing our Troops." No response yet, and I don't plan to hold my breath.

"Carter was a failure; a complete unadulterated failure."

I don't agree with the rest of your post (and not because of any admiration for Carter), but this part is absolute truth.

Jimmy Carter, Father of Jihadism and a Hollow Military.

I was in the Army and my borther in the Navy while Jimmy was CIC, barf.

My brother was on the USS Eisenhower, 9 months in the Indian Ocean, no port of call waiting for orders that never came.

Per George Will - Clinton may not be the worst President we've ever had but he's the worst man to have been President. IMHO Worst President = Carter - LBJ tossup.

That is an interesting perspective, and yes, I thought LBJ was pretty bad too.

Hey, your state was part of the landslide that took him out, too. Lift your head for ye are forgiven; you recognized the error of your state's ways. Rise up, take up the sword and go fight against the rodent-led darkness that threatens!

"Sorry, as much as I despise Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter was a worse President."

Well, the GOOD thing about Dopey and Mopey is that they've completely erased from the memory, the POTUS who previously got the rap - and wrongly so IMHO, as 'the worst' - Millard Fillmore, the 13th POTUS.

"My brother was on the USS Eisenhower, 9 months in the Indian Ocean, no port of call waiting for orders that never came."

I was "lucky" in the fact I was transferred to the Indy in December of 1980, didn't get onboard til the end of January. Right after they released our people, the Indy went to Perth Australia for two weeks or so.

The divorce / seperation rate for those that held down Gonzo Station during that time exceeded 70%. I was single, so I didn't have to deal with that aspect. Thankfully.

I'll never, ever, forgive Carter for his mishandling of that whole situation, from his ill timed "toast" that lit the fuse on the Shah's fall, to his inability to act as CINC when the time came.

"The worst President we have ever had"

I believe that title is reserved for Bill Clinton.

But I do agree that Carter was a very inept president.

DannyT makes an important point very relevant to our troops getting killed....the politics of the Left is certainly an impediment to strong responses to the other obvious Terror Supporting Nation-states. Especially the 2 that border IRAQ: IRAN & SYRIA. As long as they think that the Left will win in the US in November and that the Republican Admin is on the ropes they think they have impunity. Bush may surprise them, has he has other enemies but the fact is it is costing unnecessary deaths for US and other innocents.

Jimmah gave away the Panama Canal, undercut the Shah of Iran causing the radicals to take over Iran, and supported the Sandinista Communists in Nicaragua. The absolute worst foreign policy President we have EVER had.

May his peanut crop be sorry this year!!!
