NBC and MSNBC Allowed No Pro-Bush Mourners to Express Their Feelings About Condi Testimony
Who are the most important judges of the investigation of what went wrong before September 11? The media elite have provided one consistent answer on who is in the political drivers seat: the relatives of the victims. But not all of them.
In recent weeks, the networks have interviewed a selected set of 9-11 widows and other relatives, and most have focused the lions share of their outrage at the Bush administration. Viewers at home might assume that a poll of 9-11 families would find they almost uniformly blame Bush more than the terrorists and want him to lose in November.
Minutes after National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice finished testifying, Tim Russert told Tom Brokaw live on NBC: But the real issue will be, how did the families of the victims of 9-11 respond to this testimony? They have been the driving force for the commission, for information from the White House, for Dr. Rice to testify under oath.
On this mornings Today and for multiple segments in a 90-minute post-Condi Hardball special on MSNBC, only four widows were singled out as judges of Rices testimony. The four were celebrated in the April 1 New York Times as nonpolitical. NBC has emphasized Kristen Breitweiser, who has appeared in four Today interviews in four weeks.
Mrs. Breitweiser insists that she voted for Bush in 2000, but has wildly declared that Three thousand people were murdered on Bush's watch. Times arts editor Frank Rich also noted how she tartly complained that a Showtime 9-11 docudrama failed to display President Bush reading to school children while people like my husband were burning alive inside the World Trade Center towers because it would have been contrary to Karl Roves art direction and grand vision. Shes hardly nonpolitical.
In fact, these widows are liberal lobbyists against the Bush team, even as they claim to speak for all 9-11 victim families. Even Tim Russert linked the widows and John Kerry as two forces who will now press the White House for a complete declassification of the much-discussed August 6 presidential daily briefing. (One weblog even urges Kerry to pick Breitweiser for veep.)
In their front-page widow story, the New York Times noted that liberal Senators Ted Kennedy and Charles Schumer were advising the widows to demand Bush and Cheney also answer commissioner questions (and speeches) on live TV. Print accounts have also noted these widows tried to get the 9-11 commissions director, Philip Zelikow, fired for being too close to Condi Rice.
(NBC wasnt all alone today in the anti-Bush widow department. On ABCs Good Morning America, widow Beverly Eckert was charging Everybodys basically been covering up, I think, for the administration, this whole Washington scene.)
In March, 9-11 relative Ernest Strada sounded a different note, telling Chris Matthews on MSNBCs Hardball that anybody can be a Monday morning quarterback. Strada says he told Bush at a memorial event: Mr. President, you are on the right side of the issues. Were with you 100 percent. Forget what the media says, the country believes in you. Is it any wonder he didnt get to debate the Kristen Breitweiser crew on this important occasion?

Members of a support group of September 11 widows, from left, Mindy Kleinberg, Krisiten Breitweiser, Patricia Casazza and Lorie Van Auken, pose in New Jersey, Thursday, May 16, 2002. Some relatives of September 11 victims, like Breitweiser, are seething over revelations that President Bush got advance warnings, not shared with the public, that Osama bin Laden's terror network might hijack U.S. planes. Breitweiser said she became convinced shortly after the attacks that U.S. authorities mishandled cluesthat could have helped avert the carnage. (AP Photos/Daniel Hulshizer)

What Bush knew. It is true that President Bush was away, reading to school children on the morning of 9/11 , but everyone else in his cabinet (and our government) was in Al Qaida- targeted buildings, including his wife.
So he and his top advisors knowingly decided to play "Russian roulette" that day with Osama ? I think NOT !

Rush (and my wife, for that matter) have of late advised me to not even listen to the "mainstream" media, since it's so exasperating, and they will obviously never even bend their "rules."
But I have a tough time just throwing in the towel.
I can understand a little built-in bias.
But the NBCABCCBSPBSCNN crowd are going WAY over the top these days.
They're nothing more than Democratic party PR firms.
I agree that there's little more I can do other than b**tch about it, but it infuriates me that the election will hinge on the 20% "undecided" vote, and they pay attention to these left-wing networks and the crap they spew.

The nut case wife on the right inthe photo above repeated her conspiracy teory blather that high level officials (like Ashcroft) were told not to fly the day before 911 because of insider info. Nut job!

I am getting really sick at the power these 4 have managed to gain. It's impressive, but it is very dangerous as they are turning the 911 commission into a personal vendetta against Bush rather than try to make the US safer.

Sleazy carnival magicians at least try to distance themselves from their shills:
"I'd like a volunteer from the audience. Now we have never met before, right?"
Let's have an in-depth analysis of who these 9/11 women have talked to in the last 24 hours - are they getting their spin from anyone, or are these their real original thoughts?

I have just about had a bellyfull of 911 victims relatives.
Every day people die in auto accidents , in fires, accidentally run over by cars, their families collect a minimal amount of insurance money someimtes nothing, these floks have a had a grievous loss but no more grievous than many others who's folks die suddenly from causes they had no control over. These people have had federal monies , donated monies, Therapy, and many advantages other folks havent had. I know money cant replace relatives but damn these people have had their 15 minutes.

Shes hardly nonpolitical. If this woman was in her right mind she would recognize the fact that Bush is the ONLY ONE who has gone after those responsible for 9-11, that these attacks were being planned while Clinton was in office, who's weak response to terrorism allowed al-Qaeda to grow and spread. Bin Laden even said that Clinton's inaction proved America was a paper tiger that could be attacked with impunity.
The statements by these anti-Bush widows are irrational and a disgrace to the memories of those lost in the terrorist attacks because they are clearly exploiting 9-11 for their personal bitter political agendas.
Bush has taken the lead in the war on those responsible for 9-11 and if they had an ounce of decency they would be thanking him.

Those ladies were not attacked on 9/11, America was! The Committee is nothing more than a sham and should be disbanded immediately. There is no good that is going to come from it as was displayed yesterday. These Rat props are pathetic. Condi ROX!!!

On NBC this morning, while The Today Show was covering the weather, there was a crawl along the bottom of the screen, where the important breaking news runs. It read:
"911 widow finds Condoleeza Rice's testimony disappointing."
Thanks for keeping us updated with this late-breaking news, NBC.

These Bimbo's need to get over it. The millions they got or are going to get are much more than any of our kids are getting when the die in Iraq trying to stop terrorism. As usual, Big Russ's son has it wrong as do Matthews and Fineman. We need someone to get to the source of the funding for these people and expose them for the left wing ideologists that they are.
Friday ,04.09.04, NBC's Today show host, Couric, again interviews Kristen Breitweiser and other family members of 9-11.
Breitweiser: "I was disappointed! I didn't see any proof of priority!" "What about all the rest of the PDB's..declassify them all!"
Brietweiser went on to suggest that if auto manufacturers can design (now this is where she confused me..) vehicles that give off warnings before they crash into an object.."we need a plane that cannot crash into a building ..can't crash into a mountain".
Patty Casazza (pictured above) said she heard nothing new than what she had known before from private testimony.
Deborah (?) (I had not seen before ): "I was satisfied! I am awaiting the final report." She believed yesterday's Rice hearing was only " a show for the public."
