If a conservative had headlined an article attacking a "black" and "female" appointee "Does she know her role".. can you imagine the PMS-type hissyfitting from the left?
I've read through this thread -- it's so obvious conservatives are not hung up on sex, nor ethnicity, nor race. But liberals yet are. They really don't get how obvious they are.

Mr. Fineman,
You've completely lost touch with reality if you think that Dr. Rice's testimony today is going to hurt Bush out here in the real America.
The partisan whining and bickering from the supposedly bi-partisan commission as they put Dr. Rice under the Inquisitor's lamp came across as self-serving and ignorant.
The cheering section of "Bush Knew" groupies in the audience was particularly appalling, and apparently some of the other audience members thought so, too, because Dr. Rice ended up getting a couple of rounds of even louder applause.
Most of us out here compare Clinton's eight years in office with Bush's eight months. We compare Clinton's "fire for effect" with Bush's far-reaching strategy to make America safer - and we know who's done more to try to "protect and defend."
Dr. Rice has cleaned Richard Clarke's clock - and now those of Kerrey, Ben-Veniste and Roemer while she was at it. And I can't wait to see the egg over all the faces of the talking heads when the infamous PDB of Aug. 6, 2001 is declassified and released to the press. Kerrey's attempt to mischarachterize the nature of this daily briefing is going to bounce back to bite liberals.
Hope the White House delays the declassification long enough for more of you to weigh in on the issue, first though. ;)

To the left, the real problem with Condi is not knowing her role, but, knowing her place.

Take a look at this
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/04/20040408.html I trust this woman. I tend to believe that some of her non-answers might have been because she knows *more* that the rest of us.
One of the blatant falsehoods in Fineman's attempt is proven by this statement:" The terrorists were at war with us, but we were not yet at war with them."

she was serviceable The man is disgusting racist scum ... I used to consider him a semi-respectable though liberal journalist. Now I just consider him disgusting racist scum and will no longer bother to read him nor watch PMSNBS.

It was a completely ignorant article. I nearly blew a gasket. This part in particular:
Rice, in the end, is just a cog in a machine. The real political question is: How did her testimony enrich the narrative of what the president did or didn't know and do about terrorism before 9/11? In an interview with Bob Woodward, Bush admitted two years ago that he didn't have a sense of "urgency" about al-Qaida. He said he wasn't "on point" wasn't locked on a target in hunting dog fashion.
His comments about the"cog" and "narrative" show that the he just a stupid journalist who has never run anything. Rice is not a cog. Also the point is to get all the cogs working together. If we are relying on Rice or worse Bush to make operational decisions when fighting a decentralized enemy like al Qaeda, we are in trouble.
The comments about Bush and "urgency" about al Qaeda is just an honest assesment of America pre 9/11. Fineman's characterization is why politicians never speak honestly.
Fineman like Kerry is a pompous azz who thinks he knows more than he does.

While a lor of folks here on FR would like Condi to run for President, all the indications I see are that she isn't interested. Am I missing something?

If Howard ever gets his head out of Chris Mattews butt he might come up with something interesting. He doesn't seem old enough to be senile but you never can tell.
To: anniegetyourgun
What's that "know her role" crack supposed to mean? Sounds almost like Dr. Rice is expected to play the servant, or some such nonsense. Ms. Condi was classy, honest & brutal...a true warrior princess. She did her duty. The Liberal lynch mob needs to get over itself.

Now, tell me again.
Just what was Hillary's official "role" in the Clintons' adminstrations?
Oh.
Yeah.
She wasn't on the fed "payroll" - so she couldn't be required to follow the open-meetings act for her health care planning.
Nor go overseas.
Nor attend Cabinet meetings.
Nor approve the Cabinet positions.....

This guy is a complete @sshole.
I can guarantee you that he would have been whining like a spoiled child if he were flying on September 10th, 2001 and had been ordered to take off his shoes and had a probe jammed up his @ss by a Gestapo-like airport security staff.

I didn't even have the heart to post the entire article. This little missive is one of Howie's most embarassing. Poor soul. Everyone is wrong this week. First, STRATFOR's ridiculous piece about the mosque we bombed, and now Fineman's laughable column on Rice's testimony.

Granted, we're all avoiding the term, but as we develop Fineman's inference, do let's be certain to acknowledge that the Left's favorite tactic is projection. That being said, Fineman knows full well who the real whore is, and that would be he... he and the rest of his partisan hacks disguising themselves as reputable journalists performing all manner of 'service' for the Democrats and there agenda. What's more they're cheap whores at that, surrendering the virtue of a proud profession to one of filth and slander, stroking the ambitions of their pimphandlers for the price of praise and a pat on the head. There's is the truly reprehensible role, and just like any other diseased trollop, the focus of their true hatred is not themselves, but the woman of virtue. In that light, I'd say, Fineman's inference, is quite the compliment to the fair Mrs Rice. She knows her place well, and it is one that Howard will never attain... a place of honor.
That being said, we are witnessing something equally as frightening as an armed, malicious enemy, and that would be a press institution globally unrestrained by integrity, logic and facts. The media is now an agitprop dispensation machine, and has become incredibly dangerous as such, and regardless of how often or how strongly the Left protests that fact, a mainstream media institution that behaves in lock-step to subvert facts and truth is more dangerous to this nation and everyone within (including those on the Left), than any armed enemy.
As for you, Fineman... Here's a quarter. Go service yourself.

I guess a few others wanted to let him know how they felt.
My email follows:
Subject: Does Howie know Rice's Role?
Dear Howie,
Nice hit piece on Rice. I'm sure it will earn you brownie points with Chris Matthews and more face time on Hardball. (considering MSNBC's ratings that's not worth much.
