Trust me when I say this: this will get major spread-this-around time, in certain circles.
That being said, this si probably the most in-depth AAR I've read in a year.
Good Find, Gunner!

Excellent article! As I read it FOX reported one of our convoys was ambushed resulting in approximately 9 KIAs with some dying in burning vehicles. I hope this info is passed on as most of our casualties seem to come from IEDs (improvised explosive devices) and convoy ambushes. These attacks seem to take place daily and we seem unable to counteract them.
God Bless our troops!!

You mean
Good find, FreedomPoster
All I did was ping it to the SBCT TSG (ChABN).
I hunt for AARs online. There aren't that many anymore. This one really got into my head. Extremely vivid, outstanding writing.

Get the parts to turn your M1A1 tank version .50 cals into flexes
And now for todays stupid question
What the heck is a flex?

Then, standing correction approved.
FP, ya done good!

I haven't been tanker/cav in a decade, but I've lived with them...
Flex mounts allow you to do just that: take the M2 off the vehicle and ground them. Flexibility, especially these days.

Thanks.

The M1 and M1A1 tank have a tank commander's hatch with a cupola called the CWS (Commander's Weapons Station). The .50 caliber has no spade grips mounted on the backplate and can only be electricaly fired using a solenoid.
The M1A2 and the M1A2 SEP have a traditional .50 cal mount with spade grips It can only be fired "open hatch". It is a standard .50 cal. It is flexible.

Also, I would want to have a "talk" with the folks who were at the "funeral."

Post-Mogadishu,
I'm amazed people do not
take this for granted . . .

And even more recently, post-Jessica Lynch, and whatever "rear echelon" unit (Maint. Co.?) that was.
