NBC Trumps Rice With Anti-Bush Widows (Matthews suggests sodium pentathol for Bush)

Posted on 04/08/2004 3:39:23 PM PDT by misunderestimated

Who are the most important judges of the investigation of what went wrong before September 11? The media elite have provided one consistent answer on who is in the political driver's seat: the relatives of the victims. But not all of them.

In recent weeks, the networks have interviewed a selected set of 9-11 widows and other relatives, and most have focused the lion's share of their outrage at the Bush administration. Viewers at home might assume that a poll of 9-11 families would find they almost uniformly blame Bush more than the terrorists and want him to lose in November.

Minutes after National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice finished testifying, Tim Russert told Tom Brokaw live on NBC: "But the real issue will be, how did the families of the victims of 9-11 respond to this testimony? They have been the driving force for the commission, for information from the White House, for Dr. Rice to testify under oath."

On this morning's Today and for multiple segments in a 90-minute post-Condi Hardball special on MSNBC, only four widows were singled out as judges of Rice?s testimony. The four were celebrated in the April 1 New York Times as "nonpolitical." NBC has emphasized Kristen Breitweiser, who has appeared in four Today interviews in four weeks.

Mrs. Breitweiser insists that she voted for Bush in 2000, but has wildly declared that "Three thousand people were murdered on Bush's watch." Times arts editor Frank Rich also noted how she tartly complained that a Showtime 9-11 docudrama failed to display President Bush reading to school children "while people like my husband were burning alive inside the World Trade Center towers" because it would have been contrary to "Karl Rove's art direction and grand vision." She's hardly "nonpolitical."

In fact, these widows are liberal lobbyists against the Bush team, even as they claim to speak for all 9-11 victim families. Even Tim Russert linked the widows and John Kerry as two forces who will now press the White House for a complete declassification of the much-discussed August 6 presidential daily briefing. (One weblog even urges Kerry to pick Breitweiser for veep.)

In their front-page widow story, the New York Times noted that liberal Senators Ted Kennedy and Charles Schumer were advising the widows to demand Bush and Cheney also answer commissioner questions (and speeches) on live TV. Print accounts have also noted these widows tried to get the 9-11 commission's director, Philip Zelikow, fired for being too close to Condi Rice.

(NBC wasn't all alone today in the anti-Bush widow department. On ABC's Good Morning America, widow Beverly Eckert was charging "Everybody's basically been covering up, I think, for the administration, this whole Washington scene.")

In March, 9-11 relative Ernest Strada sounded a different note, telling Chris Matthews on MSNBC's Hardball that "anybody can be a Monday morning quarterback." Strada says he told Bush at a memorial event: "Mr. President, you are on the right side of the issues. We're with you 100 percent. Forget what the media says, the country believes in you." Is it any wonder he didn't get to debate the Kristen Breitweiser crew on this important occasion?

My "job" is ebay, so I spend a large part of every day working at the computer while I'm home alone. I have a tendency to turn FOX News on in the morning and leave it on all day, but I am really getting burned out on it.
I'm trying to avoid turning the TV on in my home office unless there's true breaking news, like Condi Rice's testimony yesterday, but since I've been a news junkie for years, it's hard!

ABC radio did the same thing on what I call the "hourly belch". Furthermore have been suggesting she was lying on the radio today. The media bias is truly sickening.

You are correct. The stupidity in the US government goes to many previous Presidents. Presidents are unable to change the culture of this society if they are unable to visualize the threat, and too busy not offending any one so that they can get re-elected. At least Bush is head and shoulder above all the other jokers before him as far as visualizing the threat. Still, he is not clear as far as I can tell! If I was the President, I would:

1) CALL IT WAR AGAINST MOSLEM TERRORISTS

2) SECURE OUR BOARDERS

3) DECLARE HATE THEOLOGY IS A CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY

4) STOP ALL ISLAMIC PROSYLIZATION IN US PRISONS

5) ZERO VISAS TO MOSLEM MEN BELOW 70 YEARS OLD

6) REQUEST RECIPROCITY FROM SAUDI ARABIA AS FAR AS BUILDING CHURCHES IN THEIR COUNTRY OR DEMOLISH THE MOSQUES THAT THEY BUILT IN OURS.

7) REQUEST FOM OUR MOSLEM CITIZENS DECLARATION OF SUPPORT TO THE USA OR BE DEPORTED.

The Moslems are using Saudi Arabian money to convert Americans to Islam, by the droves. The entire game is to gain more Moslems to have a critical mass that would create its own momentum. The easiest way for the average person to reflect on is the extensive number of inmates who convert to Islam in the US prisons. How does that take place in a government controlled institution, and why our media never uncover such taboo subject? In essence, because our liberal media keeps forcing us to RESPECT other people' faith, we never question how can a faith calls for violence against innocents, and be RESPECTED. This stupid PC notion, UNTIL TODAY, is still causing the majority of Americans to discriminate between Islam, the religion, its followers, and the terrorists. This was easy to do since the head of our government himself, the President; has called our war "war against terror"! Notice here, the name does not say who are the terrorists, or on which behalf they are fighting. The answer to both are: They are Islamic terrorists, and they are fighting on behalf of Islam. Their fellow Moslems in America and Europe are in full support and SYMPATHY with them.

Now, let me go back to our prison system. How difficult is it to discover that a "BIG" black Moslem inmate asks the new prisoners to convert to Islam in order that they may get protection inside the big house. A typical prisoner hears of rapes and violent beatings by gangs in the prison, and he needs to literarily protect his own ass. Hence the MAJORITY of prisoners in the US convert to Islam. This mess does not stop there; no, they tell the prisoner on his way out, if he abandoned Islam, they know where to get him! This is a mafia intimidation tactics. The net effect of which is to gain adherents to this filthy cult.

Another easy tactics is the Saudis give gift to young Arab Moslem men to visit the US, on the condition that they marry, convert, and impregnate Christian girls. That is very simple. A young Arab Moslem guy goes to a trailer park with a few dollars in his pocket, and he picks a fat white girl from a broken family. Her self esteem is probably close to ZERO, he buys her cheap gifts, and get her pregnant - he names the baby Mohammad! The Saudi are happy, he is happy, the fat chick is happy because she is a mom! He leaves the fat chick to another fat chick, and spreads his seeds making more Mohammads than rabbits. What a freaking racket! The stupid Mike Wallace of 60 Minutes will never expose this as I just did. Your local paper, or Time magazine will never touch it with a ten foot pole. We know even our own president would not get near this problem. A few decades later, we have majority Mohammad among us, and we still don’t know how did that happened, simply because we RESPECT other people “religion”! The US should take this violent Islamic teaching to the UN, and convince other non-Moslem nation that the theology of hate MUST BE BANNED. I know that all of you on this board going to say yeh.. the UN...it is worthless! But ask yourself did Negroponte or whatever his name is our representative at the UN ever mentioned that theology of violence is a crime against humanity? Did any one in our government? No --WE RESPECT OTHER RELIGION! That is BS!

Fox News managed to find a level-headed VICTIM who said it's unfortunate that this "fact-finding commission" has turned this into a blame-game. Does no good. She was in the Pentagon along with her 2 yo son and both were injured. Her goal is to prevent this from happening again. Period.

Maybe Fox could find a panel of 9-11 victims and relatives of victims who resent the damage this public display is causing our country - here and abroad. Who do the Kristen Breitweiser crew think this debacle is helping? God forbid the terrorists are encouraged by this mess and Kerry is president when the next plot goes down! (shutter...) I know--let's open all the classified files so everyone (the terrorists) can see our intelligence! OK I'm done.

Cantor Fitzgerald took the biggest hit in 9-11, if I remember correctly. I also remember how their CEO cut off their survivor benefits and was a real ass - saying one thing in public and doing the opposite in private. It appears the three Cantor Fitzgerald widows have turned on President Bush after the CEO (and I can't remember his name) took the money and ran.

The ABC TV "news" had the widows on who were saying that they felt they "got the spin and no answers." No interviews with Condi supporters.

Afterwards they did a story about the soldiers who died in the fighting recently. They interviewed some of the "many Americans who are now questioning whether the fighting is worth the cost." They interviewed one woman who looked about 25 who thought Iraq was turning into another Vietnam. I probably had steam coming out of my head I was so mad.

This statement is both hilarious and sobering on so many levels...

Thanks for your tv viewing options. One show that I really love is not on here at night, and that is the old black and white Perry Mason re-runs. It always relaxed me!

As far as the Middle East terror situation goes, the best thing that could happen would be that they run out of oil. Think about all the terrorists with no funding.
