Caterpillar Protest Planned

(Chicago-AP) -- The parents of a young Washington State woman who was killed by an Israeli soldier driving a Caterpillar bulldozer are urging people to join in protests against Caterpillar later this month in Chicago and Peoria.

Craig and Cindy Corrie addressed a rally at a church in downtown Chicago yesterday to urge them to join the protests.

The Corries' 23-year-old daughter, Rachel, was run down by the bulldozer in March of last year as she was trying to protest the razing of a Palestinian home in Gaza.

Israeli officials later cleared the soldier who had been driving the bulldozer, saying he did not see the woman.

The Corries say activists will be protesting the use of Caterpillar tractors to destroy Palestinian homes when the Peoria-based company's stockholders have their annual meeting April 14th in Chicago.

Another demonstration is planned for April 23rd in Peoria.

re "didn't see her": this whole thing is just bizarre. some report have that corrie hung around the demolition site for hours, taunting the driver and getting in the way wherever possible. if so, why didn't they just have troops or police come and whisk her onto a flight back to the usa?

1. Stand off to one side of the Bulldozer.

3. DO NOT get in front of or behind the Bulldozer.

Surely there is a interstate or a train track nearby. I think they should protest by sitting on one or the other - I think Rachel would have wanted it that way.
