No direct al-Qaeda links in the original item, but Iran links. I should have noted that.

This Iranian "diplomat" Hassam Kasemi Qomi is a guy to watch. I think he may have had some involvement with the Ashoura attacks, which most likely were al-Qaeda related (through al-Zarqawi?). Note also comment #57 from Boot Hill.
