Securing and Protecting Infrastructure in Intermountain Fly-over Country

Securing and Protecting infrastructure in Intermountain Fly-over Country
The following is a pictorial description of a typical late-winter/early-spring security and control maintenance/trouble shooting and repair trip to critical regional infrastructure and communication facilities in the intermountain region. These types of activities are ongoing to protect and maintain the infrastructure that benifits our republic.

The specific nature of the work, the location of the facilities and the identifiying marks on the facilities and equipment have been left intentionally vague. It is hoped that the presentation will help others understand and appreciate the type of ongoing work being conducted across the nation to secure our infrastructure, irrespective of what may be occurring in other areas domestically.

The helo pickup and flying outbound over the foothills

Into the beautiful Intemountain Ranges of the Rocky Mountains

Primary work assignment socked-in, diverting to secondary site, a mountaintop comm station.

Approaching the secondary assignment, and, after landing, yours truly ready to work.

A communications station in the top of the Rocky Mountains.

Winter access to the comm station & a cozy but cold place to complete maintenance and check security systems.

Beautiful view from the top as we prepared to depart once more for the primary assignment.

Back in-route to a now cleared up primary assignment.

On the ground at a remote regional infrastructure site and ready to go to work.

Water storage filling under April ice and the facility housing the control and security systems.

Work now complete and departing the area, climbing out over the nearby ranges.

More beautiful mountain canyon and valley scenery on the return trip.

Approaching our base facilty and landing there, back at our home-20.

In addition to the tremendous and difficult work being performed by our military forces in the War on Terror, there are tens thousands of public servants in many agencies working to maintain, secure and protect critical infrastructure and the populace right here at home. Many of them are veterans who have carried their service to their country and the attendant oaths to bear true faith and allegiance to the constitution and to protect and defend it forward into their post military life where they continue to serve.

On this particular trip I was priveleged to work with a couple of them.

Thanks for the ping. Infrastructure is certainly plentiful. From weather info to seismic, electrical, electronic, transportation, water, telephone, sewage, ports, roads, radio, tv, mail, delivery, air, manufacturing, raw goods, government, money, banking, the list is endless, and vigilence is going to be required of all.

At least 30 percent of the country at any time are children, that only leaves 70 percent of us, and since 30 more plus percent are clueless, that only leaves 40 percent of us, and since 20 percent are elderly and clueless, (apologies to the elderly), that only leaves 20 percent of us, and since you now know where this is going, I'll take my tongue out of my cheek.

It was very beautiful...though that particular trip did have some weather developing which can be troublesome and dangerous in the monutains. But we were blessed with safety.

The other folks I work with like the pics quite a bit and I do cut a CD of them for those interested.

I knew you would appreciate it my friend. Leaves less time for writing...but I am making progress there too and Volume V is still slated for June.

PS, I suppose in a good year that first building would be buried under snow, then what?

Thank you cyn...it was very beautiful and it is very fulfilling work.

I am glad to be able to do something where I feel I am contributing directly to this fight...although I feel my book series, activities at Klamath and Jarbidge, the March for Liberty, etc. are all part and parsle of the same thing.

My wife, Jared and I all remember fondly our meeting with you as were were returning from that first March for Liberty and still talk about it to this day.

I am glad you are involved in helping Terri. It is a travesty what has happened and is happening in her case. We pray for God's continued blessings on her and her family, that her nightmare might end.

God's best to you and yurs.

It was buried to near the ridgeline of the roof until recently. We try and schedule maintenance accordingly...but when there are problems we dig down to it. The antennas are never buried and it is easy to find based on that.

Cortez, Monticello, Mesa Verdes, Durango, Pagosa Springs

Mexican Hat, Monument Valley. Interesting country. Still, give me the Rockies, near Granby or Gunnison. BTW, I hunt right by one of those stations sometimes. Helos come in from time to time or in late season they run a snow cat up there. FAA comm station I am told.

FReegards, Jeff.

Jeff, do you have some pretty hard core survival gear on that chopper? I'd imagine there are places that if you went down, it'd be challenging to stay alive or walk out.

Jeff, it's very encouraging to hear this and I should have known if anyone was doing something to secure the homeland, it would be you! 45 years old?? No wonder every agency I contacted to offer help turned me down!! LOL!! Nice to see some Idaho pictures, thanks.

Wow, now that looks like a fun gig there Jeff.

I wonder if they need any help like that here in the great American heartland...

Take care, bro.

Our nation has the best highways systems, the best communication systems, the best water storage and hydro-electrical systems (IMHO) in the world...among many, many other things. They are all worth our effort to secure and defend...and we have enemies who would like to hurt us in any way they can.

Those areas you spoke of are very beautiful, but, like you, I prefer the mountains.
