With apologies to comedian Jeff Foxworthy, if your company has the word "redneck" in its Web site address, you might be a well, you know.
The Web site redneckjunk.com, which features classified advertising for racing equipment, hunting and fishing gear, boats and recreational vehicles, is changing its address to rjunk.com so it can continue sponsoring a NASCAR race car.
NASCAR officials have strict guidelines for what may or may not be advertised on the track "beer, for example, is OK, but hard liquor is not" and apparently didn't like seeing the word "redneck" on Derrike Cope's car.
"We had developed a business concept that was designed to cut through the clutter and have some fun with a tongue-in-cheek stereotype, but it's now clear that what we originally conceived is not acceptable to NASCAR," the site's founder, Tom Connelly, said in a statement.

For the record - the term "redneck" is a bigoted expression that was used to demean immigrant farm laborers. Its ironic how the PCBS Leftists use the term to imply ignorance and racism re Southerners - when the Left is ignorant that its using a racist term. Its really no different than calling someone a "nigger".

For diehard NASCAR Fans this is an old story. It was on Jayski.com a couple of weeks ago. Jayski is to NASCAR like Free Republic is to news. I gave up counting the number of news items I see on the TV news a week or two after I see them on Free Republic.

I guess these folks aren't welcome to advertise with NASCAR:

For the record - the term "Redneck" is an expression that many men use for themselves. They work in the sun from dawn until late afternoon. Carpenter, bricklayers, ranchers, cowboys, farmers, telephone linemen, truckers.......getting the idea?
These people do not consider themselves part of the elite class, just common hard working, honest men and women. They enjoy watching a NASCAR race, a football game and drinking a cold beer. Champagne or fine wine is something that isn't considered too tasty, they'd prefer a cold beer.
They get out of bed early in the morning knowing that they are going to probably get their clothes wet with sweat at some point during the day because their workplace doesn't have air conditioning or fans.
They're the kind of folks who take their hat off when entering someones home, the kind who stop and change an old mans flat tire for him, they tear up and stand when Old Glory is carried in front of them by a squad of Marines. They know what a war veteran is but rarely will ever tell you their experiences. They say, Yes, Ma'am and No, Ma'am to ladies they don't know personally.
It is not a discriminatory, a bigoted, or a slanderous title. It accurately describes many patriotic, lawful, drug free, hard working men and women in America.
How do I know all this? Because I am one and I'm proud of it.

As opposed to non-immigrant redneck? I'm a US born citizen that grew up on a farm. I thought I was a redneck. I guess it goes to show that you don't always know you're a redneck...

Well and truly said, sir.
