How About a Boycott of ABC ??

I'm not a practicing anything - but I found the Peter Jennings special "Jesus and Paul" extremely distateful.
The music was,for the most part, totally inappropriate; as was the "MTV" treatment of venerable images. ( A crucified Christ hopping around on the cross to some sort of "metal" beat ??? )
All that, of course is being aired on another thread, and my purpose here is to seek help in crafting a proper response.
I believe, when a media giant, such as ABC,insults and trivializes any religion as baldly as it did last night, there should be a punishment.
What I have in mind is a one week boycott of ABC,by every fair-minded,concerned viewer in the nation.
I also have in mind this boycott should take place during "Sweeps Week",when the studios all compete to see who will get the highest ratings-(and the highest advertising rates).
If ABC could, for this one, vital week become the lowest-rated network in American television, I think they might get the message : You cannot get away with dis-respecting your viewers !
I'd like to see this become a truly ecumenical project. ( If Christianity can be trashed, so can YOUR religion !)
Anyone have ideas as how to carry this project out ?

I'm already boycotting ABC by default... heck, I'm not even sure which channel it is. Guess that's what happens when there's nothing worthwhile to watch on it!

You need a list of Advertiser to have a effective boycott.

I worked at KGTV, the ABC affiliate in San Diego and I've boycotted it ever since I left.

Ditto. Haven't watched TV in at least 2 or 3 years and I know I haven't missed a thing!

Don't I have to watch ABC sometime before I can boycott it?
Not worth the exercise...

Yeah, I don't know how to boycott something that I don't watch.
Haven't had a TV for four years now...

I believe, when a media giant, such as ABC,insults and trivializes any religion as baldly as it did last night, there should be a punishment. Yes, the music sucked but the show didnt. You should be happy that ABC devoted three hours to a discussion of Jesus and Paul. Would you be happier if you were ignored? The show probably encouraged some who have fallen away or are agnostics to learn more, which has got to be a good thing. Where was the trivialization? Where was the insult? I doubt many who watched the show were insulted, just the usual suspects that are easily offended if their particular brand of Christianity isnt promoted as the absolute truth. Maybe you should build an alliance with the likes of Mullah Omar as you begin your Jihad against ABC.

I don't believe that I've watched anything on ABC for about five or six years. Nothing.
Petah Jennings, the Arabist, is on at the same time as Fox News Special Report with Brit Hume. I never watch anything other than Brit at that hour.

Boycotts just bring attention to what it is you are boycotting. Ignore it, or treat it for it is... A shameless attempt to ride the coattails of a movie they vehemently criticized.

Yeah! Let's rent a hall and put on a show! I'll write some swell songs, and we
can have Freepers dance, and paint really neat backdrops . . . We'll really wow them! |

Just don't watch TV.
To: Mygirlsmom
Haven't watched TV in 30 years. Brought two kids to adulthood without it and now bringing up another one the same way. Only way we find out what's on is to read about it here.

For me, wireless translated into TVless (except football). I'm kdot and I've been TVfree for over 2 years.
