Naw, I'm just joking a bit, trying to lighten the mood... tense moments.

Thank you for clarifying. I tend to be a bit on the humorless side when lives are at stake. That's *not* meant to be a slam on you, but on me. I've been accused of being too serious in the past and there's truth to that.

On the ground reports say we've killed about 80 and they keep coming..obviously more than 100 attacking or we've killed less.

(re: bombing the city) And then what do we do when the whole bleeping world comes down on us for making it a partking lot??

Dont you get it? Most of the world is going to HATE us no matter WHAT we do. If we leave too soon they will say that we left Iraq in a mess. If we stick it out and kill these bastards then they will say were being too rough! If we do nothing at all then they will keep attacking us.

Hama Rules

By THOMAS L. FRIEDMAN

In February 1982 the secular Syrian government of President Hafez al-Assad faced a mortal threat from Islamic extremists, who sought to topple the Assad regime. How did it respond? President Assad identified the rebellion as emanating from Syria's fourth-largest city — Hama — and he literally leveled it, pounding the fundamentalist neighborhoods with artillery for days. Once the guns fell silent, he plowed up the rubble and bulldozed it flat, into vast parking lots. Amnesty International estimated that 10,000 to 25,000 Syrians, mostly civilians, were killed in the merciless crackdown. Syria has not had a Muslim extremist problem since.

I commented on Thomas Friedman's book some time back and asserted that the only thing these people will understand is the rules of Hamas. I was quickly squashed for saying it. It's nice to see someone else reference it.

They love this stuff because in their eyes it makes Bush look bad! BASTARDS!

Well, they're sure as hell not Americans, so I guess we can't expect too much.

Why is it that some of you can voice your opinions but those with differing viewpoints chime in "certain people" reply with either:

Good point. Its good to vent(responsibly) during traumatic times, and we should be able to do it without being put down by our 'betters'.

Thats said, God keep our guys safe.

"Our US troops sit and hand out candy and blankets, or sit on their hands and wait for a mission, getting softer. Every minute they stand down, they get weaker, and every minute these Islamic fundamentalists squat in their village huts, they get stronger."

hahahahaha.....another Apocalypse Now rip off...

Thanks. I believe history teaches us that when we do not use our military power advantage properly, we give the advantage to the enemy and the constant reminder by the media of dead bodies undermines support for the war.

These Islamists could have produced these extremists on their own. They owed us that. Since they did not, we should use our artillery, air power, etc and send a message that this crap will not be tolerated. And also let them know that it will be their innocent people killed instead of our brave troops.

GOD SPEED to our MARINES!

These armchair quarterbacks and strategists have no perspective at all. Like the RATmedia they exaggerate skirmishes into battles and riots into campaigns. Then want to use weapons and tactics appropriate to battles.

Nor did they pay attention to the President when he told the nation that this would not be quick and simple. Imagine their reactions to real battles or 1942 or 1777 or 1862. Geez.

You don't win a battle going off half cocked and you don't win a war by not thinking

In fact, that's the way to fight like a salamikaze....
