I agree that she was generally considerate - though I don't really see the point of asking for details of how the father found out his son was killed, the details of his death and how the young brothers and sisters are coping (how do you think they're coping?).
As I mentioned in my original post, given the circumstances she didn't dare say what was on her mind. But I feel that it is inherently unseemly for someone such as Katie, who does not truly respect the choices the Marine and his family made, to be conducting this kind of interview, and hoping against hope that the father will say something that can be exploited for her political purposes.

When my husband died suddenly I had two modes.I wanted to talk about him at length or I couldn't bear to say a word.If someone had asked me "how did you feel"..I would have smacked them,I believe.
