Outsourcing of Flash Animation? Idiots at CBS!
CBS.COM website Century City Homepage ^ | 04/05/04 | 50sDad

I was surfing the "Century City" site at CBS.COM to learn about the science-fiction soap opera set in 2030 that they are peddling now. I clicked on the "HOME" button and it played a Flash show that describes the TV series, and includes a calendar flipping through dates into the future. Clearly, thanks to the addition of four new days, the Earth must have slipped further away from the sun! (Either that, or CBS must employ the mathematically challenged!) Had to send them an email, and you might want to check out the animation as well.

This to the website...

I was just watching the web animation for Century City, and as I watched the dates rolled by, I discovered that in the future, the first thing that they did was develop a completely new calendar, one that incluced the previously unknown days of September 31, April 31, June 31, and November 31. Can you tell me, within the shows mythos, does this mean that the year now has 369 days in a year?

Seriously, "thirty days has September, April, June and November, all the *rest* have 31, except February." Are you outsourcing Flash animation now?

Perhaps the animators went to public school.

You must have taken the most advanced speed reading course ever devised by mankind.

I could barely read the dates as they were flashing by.

I'll take your word for it.

I'll never disagreed about something bad about CBS, even if I need a bionic eye to see it

It gets worse.

Even The Simpsons have been outsourced to India.

I don't understand why the calendars would even include those days unless they did the calendars manually. Flash can create, use, call, and include date functions to render calendars automatically. Whether that means the job went overseas is a matter of debate. Any professional coder would know how to use a date or calendar function (heck, script to do it is abundant and free and easy to write). They probably outsourced their Flash work on elance and some 18 yr old punk did it for 50 bucks to enhance his portfolio.

Either the dates slow down halfway through, or my ancient machine trying to view it and D/L at the same time slowed it down for me.
