The Times reported that on Sept. 24, 1999, Dunn was arrested in Nebraska and charged for driving without a license and with having fictitious license plates on her car. Dun paid $75 in fines, according to prosecutor John McQuinn.

On Dec. 31, 1999, police in Lincoln arrested her for shoplifting after she had stuffed a pink sweater in her purse while in the dressing room of a clothing store, the newspaper reported. Charges against her were dismissed after she paid court costs, McQuinn said.

Less than a year later, on Sept. 29, 2000, she was again arrested and charged for shoplifting for items including jewelry and shoes. A police report described her as "belligerent and uncooperative", and she failed to appear in court for the violations, according to the Times. >>>snip<<<

A friend of Dunn's told the Times the shoplifting was only youthful high jinks. "She'd been a student - sometimes students do goofy things," said Pam Manske.

Dunn is on paid leave. Her contract is up in J

It's still not her fault. Your laws & rules might be ok in some instances for some people but they don't always work in the real world. Being a female and in a minority causes one to be marginalized. And when you are marginalized (i.e. you've been victimized by the traditional white-male world view) allowances must be made. Get off it already! I don't care if she was 35, 45, or 95 for that matter. It's not her faul!!!!

The LA Times reported this Sunday? Sheesh, the Daily Bulletin reported this on the 18th of March. Way to go LA Times (sarcasm).

Just posted this on another website. :-)

She is reportedly 39 now so she would have been 34/35 at the time of her "youthful high jinks"

There are among us a frightening number of sincere folk with no proper understanding of the real world; what, I wonder, ought we do with them?

Good Morning All-

Wow, can't the LA Times uncover anything new on this story? It's the same reporters over and over again with a bug up their butts about this professor.

It appears that the media is bent on portraying this woman as guilty...even though the FBI, prosecutor's office, and police have been unable to find any evidence linking her to the crime.

This professor probably ain't signing-up to be a FReeper in the near future, but Holy Cow...she deserves to be regarded as innocent unless proven guilty. If her attorney is decent, he would win this case any day of the week if it ever went to court.

When it is a story like this, I'm not inclined to believe the newspapers because they'll even turn on their own if they think they can sell a few more copies that day. I would hate for one of us to innocently suffer at the hands of the sleazy scumbags in the media.
