Condeleeza Rice does not walk alone, if you know what I mean.

The "Sibel Edmond" story has gained traction with the anti-Bush loony left and that's about it. When people post questions "Did the US..." what do they mean by "the US"? Then they pose statements to blame Bush by saying "the Bush administration knew" when the information was buried in some untranslated document in the FBI's possession that wasn't looked at until after the fact. And when Condi answered "nobody could have imagined they would fly planes into the world trade center..." I took it to mean that what was done was a VERY bold surprise attack. She probably shouldn't have used the word "imagine" as people like Tom Clancy certainly dreamed up such stuff.

What really terrifies the Democrats is the spectre of someone brilliant and articulate having the courage and goodness to speak the truth. That's their worst nightmare-- They asked for it; now they've got it.

I heard about this on the morning news programs. I don't think it had anything to do with the administration finally agreeing to let Rice appear publicly.

For starters, the testimony cited is from November, 1945.

Ahhhh...the war had been over since August of 1945.

Anybody think the War on Terror is over?

Me neither.....

"Why isn't anyone looking into the matter of this Zekilow committing blackmail. He is dispicable."

It seems very strange to me - seeing this guy wrote a book with Condi Rice:

"Dr. Rice is an extremely honest and ethical person"...

...yes, and intelligent, well educated, well informed, and articulate--the Democrats' worst nightmare.

They want to put her in the position of looking like
she is "under oath" which translates into "on trial"
in many peoples' minds.

One measure of a leader is the quality of the leader's advisors.

You mean that Bush's "handlers" are good at picking themselves, doncha ? Listen, everyone knows that Bush is both incompetent and an evil genius at the same time. Get with the program.

This Sibel Edmond story is very explosive.

No it is not...Edmonds was hired on Sep 20 2001 to translate documents from before the attacks. How can you act on pre-9/11 documents when they were not translated until after 9/11? Edmonds is just spewing garbage to get her 15 minutes of fame.

That could include a proposal to break up the FBI and create a new domestic spy agency, similar to Britain's MI5, to hunt terrorists inside the country.

That might be a very good idea!!

AFTER the War was over. Not during the War.

I remember a couple things in the Constitution where rules changed during war, but separation of powers wasn't one of them.

Yeah, but Clancy wrote about a physical attack on the center of our political structures, he didn't mention a physical attack on the economic center. His thought was an attack on the economic structure of the US by using the stock market and monetary policy against us.

This just doesn't make sense that he would blackmail her.

Zelikow and Rice are longtime friends.

He is a confidant of hers and collaborated with her on many things and even coauthored a book on German reunification in 1995.

Why is he doing this? Doesn't make sense.

Leahy was "assigned", not appointed:

Upon his return home, Admiral Leahy was recalled to Navy service as Aide to President Franklin D. Roosevelt and as Senior Member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. As such, he played a critical role in the strategy, diplomacy and execution of the Second World War. In recognition of these accomplishments, he received promotion to the rank of Fleet Admiral in December 1944. After Roosevelt's death in April 1945, Leahy continued in his posts, assisting President Harry S. Truman in bringing about final victory against Germany and Japan and then helping to guide the Nation in the early post-war years. Though he retired in 1949, Fleet Admiral Leahy technically remained on active duty until his death on 20 July 1959.

Positively Reaganesque, in that regard.
