There's no nice way to put this. The Republican ideologues in Virginia's House of Delegates are failing. They are failing the people of Virginia, failing to fulfill their constitutional duties, failing as leaders and failing to come up with anything resembling a real budget. They can't even convince us that they are working any longer or care about anything other than ideology.

The gap between what the majority of Republican delegates are telling us and what is actually occurring in Virginia is so wide, there is no way it can be justified other than to conclude that they are all liars.
Does this mean that all politicians (except a few like Tom Delay) have forsaken the right way and become the neo-democrat party?
This may indeed be America's latter days, perhaps the whole world will become a cruel socialist nightmare.

Actually the way I thought it was, is that the VA Senate wants to oncrease taxes and placate the demo governor.
The VA house I think wants to put it to a referendum.
You can tell the editorial slant of the newspaper(liberal) with their use of "Republican ideolougue".

Is someone forcing you to post it? Is their a 'viking kitty' involved? The VA House of Delegates is notoriously anti-tax, anti-spend. I pretty much agree with that. If they want to lock things up and go home, that's okay by me.

So public employees can get their expected 4% annual salary increases plus some extra days off? That's what it is all about.
To: The Other Harry
Exactly. Which is I want "Republican ideologues" to pack up their bags and go home.

It is the VA Senate that is failing us...with RINO's like
Chichester and
Stosch...who are rumored to not be running again....
We need to keep emailing and calling our DELEGATE and SENATOR, telling them NO TAX HIKE....adopt the House plan or an interim plan, and we DO want a referendum.
As a Republican, I have NEVER been more outraged at some members of our party, in the Senate, who are hurting Virginia families and failing their party.
I hope voters remember this in 4 years, when the Senate is again up for re-election.....I know I will!

This email from the VEA teacher's union in VA shows their glee with Republicans folding on the budget.....

Dear Cyber-Lobbyist:
There are hopeful signs of movement in the House regarding the budget impasse. A group of moderate Republicans, with Hamilton and Orrock speaking out publicly, are calling for some tax increases to balance the budget and increase funding for public education.
Hamilton says, " [a] half-cent hike could be part of an overall compromise that would include raising the cigarette tax from 2.5 cents per pack to 25 cents, boosting motor vehicle titling, registration and inspection fees; and other measures."
Hamilton and Orrock indicate that they will introduce bills in the coming days, and we will analyze and take positions on those bills as they come forward. Ingram, Morgan, Oder, Dillard, Bryant, Parrish, Rust, and Tata have made positive public comments. C. Jones, Callahan and Drake have not ruled out support. What about your delegate?
This is an excellent time for you to contact your delgate in support of coming up with the funds needed to support our schools. Express support for fully funding the Standards of Quality and beginning the SOQ revisions proposed by the Board of Education. Tell them it is time to compromise and produce a budget.
Contact information for you delegate is available at the following web site:
