http://www.govexec.com/dailyfed/0304/032404c1.htm A former FBI translator said Wednesday that the bureau had "real, specific" information relating to the Sept. 11 attacks before they happened. Sibel Edmonds worked for the agency working from Sept. 20, 2001 to March 2002.

Yes what was reported in other stories post on FREP but is SPIKED in this story is the fact that the "Whistleblower" was hired AFTER 9-11. Wonder why that fact got spiked?

Sibel Edmonds has already submitted a statement to and testified before the 9/11 Commission.
Her hindsight is 20/20, she says the FBI was a buearucratic nightmare and despite that the President should have known and warned the American people that jihadists were going to hijack planes with only box cutters and fly them into the Pentagon, WTC and White House.
I wonder why he didn't warn himself.

Thursday, April 1, 2004 Former FBI Translator: U.S. Had Details Before 9/11 A former FBI translator told Salon.com the U.S. should have had an "orange or red-type of alert in June or July of 2001. There was that much information available." The wiretap translator, Sibel Edmonds, who has been labeled "very credible" by Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, told the online magazine she testified before the 9/11 commission that the FBI had detailed information regarding a terrorist attack involving planes before the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.
Edmonds also said she was offended by Condoleezza Rice's recent Washington Post op-ed on March 22, in which she said the White House lacked foreknowledge of the type and manner of attacks made by al-Qaida on 9/11. "Especially after reading National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice where she said, we had no specific information whatsoever of domestic threat or that they might use airplanes. That's an outrageous lie. And documents can prove it's a lie," Edmonds told Salon. An American of Turkish descent, Edmonds, who speaks fluent Farsi, Arabic and Turkish, passed a polygraph exam administered by the FBI. She was assigned to the bureau's 9/11 investigation, as well as other counterterrorism cases. There, she translated documents captured by agents who had been rounding up terrorist suspects for a year. "She says those tapes, often connected to terrorism, money laundering or other criminal activity, provide evidence that should have made apparent that an al-Qaida plot was in the works. Edmonds cannot talk in detail about the tapes publicly because she's been under a Justice Department gag order since 2002," Salon reported. "President Bush said they had no specific information about Sept. 11, and that's accurate," Edmonds told the Web site. "But there was specific information about use of airplanes, that an attack was on the way two or three months beforehand and that several people were already in the country by May of 2001. They should've alerted the people to the threat we're facing." Edmonds first made headlines in 2002 by blowing the whistle on the FBI's translation department. In 2002, Sen. Grassley was asked during a "60 Minutes" segment looking into Edmonds' initial charges against the bureau if she was credible.
"She's credible, and the reason I feel she's very credible is because people within the FBI have corroborated a lot of her story," the Republican senator said.

She actually was right on target, laying out the errors made by the politically-correct management of the translators' group.
They, of mid-East descent, had purposely not translated various items, and she tried to get the bosses to wake up to their unfathomable overlooking of such misconduct.
Because some people did not want to air this dirty laundry, a Clinton Legacy, she was side-tracked by unwitting Bush Administration officials.
The translators should have most definitely been translating ALL the information, and if they had been doing their jobs, more indications of the plans for the attacks on September 11, 2001, would have seen the light of intel assessments --- which is her point.

I believed it.
Such an attack has been expected, as have been several other types, among the many in defense plans, since the 1940's.
It's old news.
That civilian aircraft would be used, has been planned for, and we have trained against such attacks.
We used to train on a routine basis, but, alas, the leftists in our government have seen to disolve the will, and with that has gone much preparedness.

I absolutely agree!
And .. Even if the FBI had a lot of info .. it wasn't sharing it with the CIA - so what good was it doing. This is just stupid.
This is desperation - they see this blame Bush waning away and they're just trying to stop the hemmoraging.

I found a discrepancy between these reports.
The story Drudge cites:
says the translator is "Mrs Edmonds, 33, a Turkish-American who speaks Azerbaijani, Farsi, Turkish and English..." The story does NOT include Arabic.
http://news.independent.co.uk/world/americas/story.jsp?story=507514
Now this Newsmax report says "An American of Turkish descent, Edmonds, who speaks fluent Farsi, Arabic and Turkish..."
If the first story is correct it could point to Iranian sources for these stories.
There were reports by a former Iranian intelligence office who defected to the west, that he saw a model of the Twin Towers in intelligence office prior to 911.
