about anecdotal evidence "Anecdotal evidence" is an oxymoron. Anyone who thinks it actually proves anything is a regular moron.
If you want to make a mathematician laugh in your face, offer him a "proof by example"
If you want to make a statistician laugh in your face, offer him "anecdotal evidence".

No, YOU are! I just called a doctor and asked if that's true about women being more affected by cold weather and he said it's bull. :D

I gave birth twice without medication - the second time was back labor. Women may be more sensitive, but we also have a much higher pain threshold.

Speaking only for myself, I'm LMAO over this thread.
Prissy pretentiousness amuses me.

there are studies which indicate than women are LESS likely than men to succumb to hypothermia.
Maybe it's because they create so much heat by having their yap a going all the time...... lol ;)

Ask almost any woman on this forum. You will find that the big babies on pain are their husbands/boyfriends. Amen. I have yet to know of a woman who whines for soup and the remote while nursing a hang-over or a headcold.

BTW - there's a physiological reason why females are affected more than males when it comes to cold temperatures. Because putting ice-cold feet/hands on a husband's warm thighs/stomach/etc. under the blanket is such a turn on that it ensures the perpetuation of the species?

I Doubt that there is a Man Alive who would tolerate "Labor Pains" without a General Anasthetic.
The WHOLE PREMISE of the "above Post" is irrational.
Women are FAR MORE TOLERANT of Pain than men.

To: Miss Marple
Has it ever occured to you that the reason you hear about all of these pains every day is because women are more sensitive to pain? I can think of numerous examples in life and nature that lead me to believe this study is true. BTW, cramps and labor? Women are made for these purposes? Labor can't be all that bad, virtually every woman goes through it at least once. There are over 5 BILLION people on earth.

You're wrong. My husband, the combat pilot, needs me to come to the dentist with him to hold his hand because he may pass out from the procedure.
Alternately, he brings me hotpads when I have cramps about which I do not gripe.

"there are studies which indicate than women are LESS likely than men to succumb to hypothermia. All I have is anecdotal evidence from my golf group this week, most of the guys were crying about how cold it was. Now, I wasn't comfortable, but I was happy just to be playing golf again! ;-)

Has nothing to do with surface area. Muscle burns a lot more calories than fat. Burning calories = heat. I took up bodybuilding an year ago (I'm a woman) because I was always so cold. Went from 25% bodyfat to 14%, works like a charm.
