Homemade bombs injure 5 (Rochester, NY)
(April 21, 2004) — Three homemade explosive devices went off in the area of Pioneer Street in Rochester on Tuesday night, injuring three youths as well as two city police officers who had responded after the first explosion.
All of the injuries were minor, said Sgt. Steve Ward. He did not release the names or ages of any of the injured.
The bombs appeared to have been made of plastic bottles with corrosive material, Ward said. Police were called to Pioneer Street — off Brooks Avenue — about 9:20 p.m. for a report of “suspicious noise,” Ward said. Two more explosions occurred once police arrived.
Rochester firefighters decontaminated all of the injured at the scene.
Police did not have anyone in custody late Tuesday. Ward said the injured youths “may have knowledge” of the explosions, but he said police would get them any needed medical attention before deciding whether charges would be filed.

Keep us vigilant where we are ... may we be graced with wisdom and discernment ... may we act with haste when things are amiss ... confound and confuse the enemy into multiple errors, that our cities and highways and commerce continue to thrive. Grant wisdom and abilities to Homeland Security in their task, that they be successful. Let us not waver from our mission, but help us to defeat the enemy, else we will perish as a free people. If conviction will not come to those whose mouths spew words of comfort to the enemy, silence them, O God, for they seek after other gods and not the God of Truth. Draw Your people into earnest prayer ... bring others to Yourself, for real is the battle that wages over the soul of this nation. Let not our prayers be hindered by those who would silence the voice of believers, but look with mercy upon us, and deliver us, in the Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen ...
