US Promises to Punish Those Responsible for Gruesome Iraq Attacks

The top U.S. official in Iraq says Wednesday's gruesome attacks on four American civilians whose burned bodies were put on display in the town of Fallujah will not go unpunished.

"It's going to be deliberate, it will be precise and it will be overwhelming," U.S. General Mark Kimmitt said, speaking to reporters in Baghdad. He warned insurgents in the town of Fallujah to be prepared for U.S. forces to strike back following Wednesday's killing of four American contractors by a frenzied mob that dragged their charred bodies through the streets.

Televised footage of the act has provoked outrage from Americans in the United States and led U.S. administrator in Baghdad Paul Bremer to issue a warning.

"Their deaths will not go unpunished," he promised.

The White House blamed the attacks on supporters of Saddam Hussein. The remains of the four were to be turned over to the U.S. military.

A day after the attack, three American soldiers were injured in another attack near Fallujah, this time when their Humvee struck a roadside bomb.

Don't know whether anyone has posted this yet, but here is an update on the diver found floating in the Hudson River last winter:

Dead diver identified as Houston man

NEWBURGH -- A body found floating in the Hudson River near Dynegy's Danskammer power plant two months ago has been identified, Town of Newburgh police said. Juan Carlos Galo-Argueta, 22, of Honduras, was living in Houston, police said Friday. An investigation by Newburgh Detective Marc Harrington, the U.S. Coast Guard Investigative Service and Houston police also found he was an illegal alien. His body, clad in full scuba gear, was discovered Feb. 22 by the crew of a cargo ship that had delivered coal to the power plant, police said. He will be buried next week by the Orange County Coroners Office.

The key will be finding varieties that will overwinter well. We had a really bad winter two years ago that knocked out a lot of lavenders used as onamentals in this area. The farm I'm getting my stock from also lost a lot of varieties. I'm starting with the five varieties that survived that year the best for them and also have very desirable characteristics for aroma and culinary uses.

There's also a LOT of hand labor involved, which is why you don't find very many large lavender farms. The labor I can deal with.

I'll know next spring how the rest will go :)

If I remember correctly, the Iranians have a Chinese "Seersucker" guided missile variant in their military arsenal.

That fits the bill nicely, considering the Iranian aid and comfort to our enemies lately.

Our alphabets are undoubtedly out of touch with today's reality. Categorizing people as "Whackos" is just what Al Qaeda counts on us doing. They have studied us and know EXACTLY what to expect from us in given situations. Underestimating our enemy will have drastic repercusions.

I killed my lavender plants last summer (don't know why they died). I was very sad to lose both of my plants. I wish you luck with your endeavor. I absolutely love those plants and plan to try it again this year at our new location.

Plane Forced To Land During Bush Visit

OPA-LOCKA, Fla. -- A small plane was forced to land at an airport Friday night when it allegedly flew into restricted airspace during President Bush's visit to the Miami area, officials said.

Secret Service agents were interviewing two men who were aboard the plane that landed at Opa-Locka Airport just north of Miami, said Miami-Dade County police spokesman Randy Rossman.

The Federal Aviation Administration was "investigating an alleged violation of the presidential temporary flight restriction that occurred this evening," agency spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said.

She had no further details on the alleged intrusion, but said most noncommercial planes are not permitted to fly in within a radius of 10 nautical miles of where the president is.

Bush was in the Miami suburb of Coral Gables to attend a fund-raiser. Air Force One left Miami around 7:30 p.m. ---END
