I heard Bremer on the radio this morning, and I've got to be honest with you -- there is nothing impressive about his demeanor that would lead me to believe he has any intention of doing a damned thing.

We have conducted the occupation of Iraq based on a false theory about human behavior generally, and about these savages in particular.

It is too late to carry out a heavy occupation.

The most that will happen is that the usual suspects will be "arrested" - because that is the most that can happen.

In post-Saddam Iraq, we've been bluffing the bad guys.

They just called our bluff.

He's a lame duck who wants to be Secretary of State, so he'll be a pansy and be diplomatic and we'll get the expected results.

The man is a wonk--Bremer is a PC public relations guy--We need a general in charge--someone who looks and sounds like he eats nails for breakfast. Someone who will inspire respect and maybe a little fear. Where is our modern Patton's and McArthurs now that we need them? Imagin how things would be if Patton were in charge of Iraq. Happy thoughts indeed.
