LOL! A few years back I had a big ol' black dude roommate named Vincent. One day he wanders out of his room with a cap with a "V" on it. I looked (way) up at him and deadpanned "I see you got a Malcolm the 5th cap."
He nearly choked to death laughing...

No ... that can't be. The "Malcolm the Tenth" joke has been around for a while. Is Kerry really on tape saying that??? I can hear the spin now ... describing the "X" as "what, the letter "x" on my hat?" would be too pedestrian for JF'nK; he was simply relating the "x" to his many years of Latin taken at PS 69 in Dorchester which he didn't attend but served with many of it's graduates in Vietnam. Oh, did I mention he served in Vietnam?

I always thought they were called "Roman" numerals, but I guess since the Romans spoke Latin, his "Latin" numerals descriptions is legit. Just not mainstream.

If Kerry met Jesus he'd say:
"Hey, how'd you get all scraped up like that? Did ya fall down?"

Kerry: "Oh, I didn't know there were ten popes named Malcolm!"

Jessica Simpson is smarter than John Kerry.

Hugh Hewitt also played it several times today. Kerry is well into his political death-spiral.

Some people can easily assume someone with an X on his cap is doing it because of Malcolm X when the negro baseball leagues had a team that used the X as well. If Kerry knew that then he could really impress :-)

No way! This audio clip would be a great e-mail forward if someone's got it. It's not even the "Latin number 10," it's called a Roman numeral, John.
His Swiss boarding school must have been a few Toblerone short of a hexagon.

Wouldn't it have seemed a bit 'racist' to some folks if Kerry would have immediately blurted out "The 'X' is for Malcolm X", since a black man was wearing the cap? Is it possible Kerry's brain actually went into overdrive trying to answer the question in the best PC way? Is it better to seem out-of-touch or racist these days?
