Jubilant crowds dragged the burnt and mutilated bodies of four Americans through the streets of Fallujah yesterday amid some of the most horrific scenes witnessed since the invasion of Iraq.
The four were driving along the main road when they were caught in a vicious crossfire from Iraqis wearing headscarves. The spot is a favourite site for attacks in the pro-Saddam Hussein town.
Yesterday, the corpses were dismembered before parts were hung from a green iron bridge over the Euphrates river, witnesses said. Other remains were hung from an electricity pole. People chanted: "We sacrifice our blood and souls for Islam."
One resident, Abdul Aziz Mohammed, said: "The people of Fallujah hanged some of the bodies on the old bridge like slaughtered sheep."
Beneath the bodies, a man held a printed sign with a skull and crossbones and the phrase: "Fallujah is the cemetery for Americans."
"I saw the people pull one of the dead bodies out of the car and pour [fuel oil] over it. Then they set the body ablaze," said Omar Khalil, an off-duty Iraqi police officer. "The people were praising God for their good fortune in killing Americans." The body was then dragged down the road by the feet.
Neither American soldiers nor Iraqi police were seen in the area after the attack, although an American aircraft flew low over the scene, scattering the crowd.
Hours after the attack hundreds still danced around the burning wreck of a Mitsubishi Pajero and Toyota Landcruiser chanting: "Death, death to the Americans." Some were said to be preparing an ambush for American forces if they returned to recover the corpses.

.50 cal? Why are you going so lightly on them? A-10s unleashing 30mm DU shells into the vicinity makes a larger impact...on so many levels...

I the the US command in Iraq has some explaining to do for just sitting by and letting this happen. Not sending the apaches and spraying the crowd of attackers is the same as appeasement.

...but nothing will be done...and I find it very depressing. Pop an antidepressant, and wait 24 to 36 hours. I'm sure an operation is being planned right now. These things take a little bit of time to put together, to insure a safe operation. Rushing in will only get more Americans killed.
The administration may not even need to do anything. Don't the commanders on the ground have some leeway? On the other hand, the President is not one to stand down after something like this. He knows the game they are playing against us better than we do.
I predict that by this weekend, we'll see tanks rolling, with Apaches flying cover.

You say what I meant. As lond as it's anything that'll shred them like swiss cheese so the rats will have something to eat.
Just a side note, Americans need to start having more kids or these rapidly growing degenerate people will...: "the earth belongs to those who inherit it" We need to start spreading the word. Then we'll also rely less on immigration.

People chanted: "We sacrifice our blood and souls for Islam." NO OUTRAGE OR CONDEMNATION FROM ALL THE MUSLIMS IN THE US

sensible citizens, eh? We'll see very soon if there are any.
Do you recall Pres Bush's words on those nations harboring terrorists? I think a city could come under that category, don't you?

One thing about bulldozers instead of bombing.. The people involved get to watch their homes go down ever so slowly.. and the use of force isn't so dramatic as a quick though devastating bombing. Hopefully they get to watch each brick being pulled down.. and loud speakers telling why it is happening has got to be more effective.. I imagine announcing and then removing electricity for a long "mourning" period would also be an education that they can't both bask in comfort and support that sort of behavior.
As far as bombing or shooting into the crowd...I believe that is what they would want to happen.. to get international support.. and more idiots to "March for Peace"..

I know what you mean, but we also passed on some of the most vile shit all sitting on one bridge....an opportunity lost. Tanks rolling wont do any good when all those cowards will just sit in their house and wait for it all to pass by

The slow and steady bit has possibilities. Call me old fashioned, but when I think of slowly levelling a town, I think of siege warfare. Ring the city with M109s and heavy mortars and begin a steady shelling that lasts for days...

"I want to know why the Marines didn't send apache's over the horizon to 50 caliber all those bastards on that bridge."
I wish that did happen, inchworm.
I think Bush is making this harder than it has to be. By not responding to this horriable event, openly. It will only fuel their hate more. Making it harder for our troops.

Actually,,the Palestinians have yet to feel the nation of Israels wrath...
Last war go round saw Egypt loose some 7000 KIA...even though they danced in the streets of Cairo..and thought they had defeated Israel.
Not alot of Dancing in Damascus...no..a pair of binoculars could see 175mm Israeli Longtoms poised to hammer them into dust.
those that ran from the Golan heights..the guys who ran and left hundreds of T-55's idling in the sun till their fuel expired..they probably had that terrifed look for some time.
Syria lost thousands and thousands..and they perished in the most grizzly fashion..as IAF Phantoms and Skyhawks dropped napalm and cluster muni's on them.
Known to the Israeli's as.."The Valley of tears".
Yes..IDF Barak Brigade was decimated..but they held the line.... soon IAF appeared to send Hamdi to his god.
If you do..enough of them..they do get the message.
Syria and Egypt..both reluctant to tangle with tiny Israel.
The Palestinians are headed for a same/same outcome eventually.
they just do not get it..and thats why..they will eventually..*Get it.
The deaths of 10's and hundreds is easy for the Palies to shrug off...
they won't recover when 7,000 + do not return home...
triple that figure for maimed and wounded.
Richard the Lionheart did a grizzly act after taking Acre in the 3rd Crusade.
after the battle..he lopped of alot of heads...numbers vary..but the point was made.
Crusaders held Acre for 200 yrs.
"Saul has killed thousands..but David has killed tens of thousands".
Islam fears David.....and rightly so : )

Good point put the pictures of all those people on the bridge on a new deck of playing cards and hunt then down.

Well, I heard Scott McClennan express the president's "outrage" at the murder and mutilation of our citizens over there. They must have found one of the many similar speeches Clinton made in all those terror attacks during his administration. And we all know how effective they were in taming these depraved animals.

yEAH, A CITY could fit.
I do think we have to work constantly and hard to avoid becoming the evil we are seeking to remove, obliterate, incarcerate.
But this stuff REALLY NEEDS A VERY DRAMATIC AND VIVID RESPONSE.
Otherwise we will be seen as weak or crazy. Neither would help our cause.

It's possible that the military wasn't even aware of what was going on until it was too late. It was a civilian convoy that was attacked. I just heard on a radio update that most of the residents of Fallujah went into their homes in shame as this was going on... They need to seal off the town, and let the "good" people out one by one before they start blasting away.
After 9/11, we took no immediate action, but we did take decisive action, once the plans were made, and the resources were gathered...
Revenge is a dish best served cold.
Patience.

With behaviour like this in the ME are we really surprised that their literacy rate is lower than that of the people in Deliverance? Most of the grinning twits can't write their own names. Their worldview is shaped by imams who, for the most part, are slightly less rational than Al Franken.

I trust President Bush and his team. His response will be measured and effective. Condeming a whole city or the entire country for the crimes of a few are not what we are about..
If you listen to some people, they would throw the baby out with the bath water and insure the evil people win.

Kill every last one of them. Kill them, kill them, kill them.
To: ASA Vet
ASA Vet, I understand your anger, and I share it. But there is a better way.
The folks who organized this ambush were the local Al Qaeda sales reps. They are the big dogs in the insurgency right now, the Ba'athist's having proven that they have no stomach to take on the Americans. They probably did the ambush, then sent out the rent-a-mob for Al Jazeerah.
They are trying to provoke us into bombing them and killing several thousand of the same people we are trying to liberate. That would be stupid. Although the Sunnis were the rat bastards who got wealthy off the swag doled out by the Old Regime, not all Sunnis deserve to die. Not even all the Sunnis in Fallujah. But the folks who killed our people and danced on the burnt corpses of our dead deserve nothing less than instant, quick death.
The USMC maintains the best cadre of Scout Snipers in the world. Now then, these goobers were stupid enough to mug before the cameras. They're first on the hit parade. Meantime, start spending money on informers and the local Mafiosi. Make it worth someone's while to wag the tongue. Getting the local Al Qaeda rounded up is important, but it is secondary to imposing a regime of fear. Fallujah has mostly escaped scot-free. Now it is time to start setting not one big example, but many small ones.
Take ten to fifteen teams of Scout Snipers. Put some on the outside of the town, infiltrate some in through the Euphrates. Focus in on the ringleaders of the Death Dance. Kill them in broad daylight from half a mile. In a crowd, so the entire community can see what happens to the braggarts and the big talkers.
Make others disappear outside of town. Have their bodies strung up on that same bridge the next morning for the town to discover. Leave no Marines in the town. Screen the perimeter with an armored force that all can see, while administering a quarantine.
Be Seeing You,
Chris
