Foxnews host Bill O'Reilly just previewed his show. "Problems continue for the U.S. Military in Fallujah. Why doesn't the U.S. Military just go ahead and level it?"
I have to say that I agree with Bill. Level the place.

Speaking of cutting things out, what you're proposing is completely different from dealing with a cancer. You want to level a town because of the terrorists in it? That would be somewhat similar to cutting off your head because of a hangnail. Nope. It's more like removing a cancerous lung, There's still plenty of normal lung tissue in the lung, but the whole thing needs to go to save the rest of the body. For that matter, a good surgeon would probably pull out quite a bit of surrounding tissue and lymph nodes, just to be sure.
As I said earlier, leveling the town because it opposes the United States would be like Saddam leveling a town because it opposed him. I thought we were there to get rid of tyranny, not model ourselves after it.
History is written by the survivors. I intend that we be the ones to write it.
Had you been in charge, history would be being written in Japanese and German...

"Let Richard Perle drive around Fallujah for ten hours every day from now until the first Tuesday in November. "
Yeah let his buddy Ahmed Chalabi accompany him.
Chalabi poised to lead Iraq
http://washingtontimes.com/world/20040330-094240-7127r.htm Mr. Chalabi is still on the Defense Intelligence Agency's budget for a secret stipend of $340,000 a month.

That said, had the powers that be thought the way you do 50 years ago, NONE of us would be posting on this board right now. Presumably you're speaking of World War II. Truman had no other means at his hands with which to accomplish an end to the war. I suspect that, if he had the technological and surveillance capabilities of the current-day military, his decisions would've ultimately been different. He could have effectively directed force at his target as opposed to the populace in general.

And you presume to kill all 12 year olds to gain retribution for the comments of this one.
That's utterly depraved.

Look the bottom line is this...
In order to totally win a war you must totally destroy the enemy's will to fight. That is why the Germans and the Japanese sumitted in WWII. These people still have the WILL to fight us.
Either you destroy their will to resist or they will destroy OUR will to persevere.
War is not a fair playground, people die, the deal is that we kill them before they kill us.
They're not the touchie feelie type.
If you don't have the gut for it don't look !!!

All those bad guys happened to be black. To some it might have made sense to go after all the black guys. Which didn't make any sense because the guy that saved Denny was black. Huh? You think it was only those four guys?
Directly after this incident, hundreds of thousands of their "friends and neighbors" proceeded to burn down large areas of an entire major city, buring thousands of businesses, killing over 65 people, and crippling the local economy for years. No they were not all guilty, but I'm here to tell you, a large portion of them were.

Well said.
In the eyes of many on this thread, we apparently have to kill Iraqis in order to save them. Such thinking is truly disturbing.

I say level it. And it is not because I am anti Sunni. I would recommend doing the same thing to any city in the US that behaves like that. You should have seen what happened to some of the southern towns during the Civil War when General Sherman was in the neighborhood.

Eventually we will get the bad guys. BTW, one of the guys that beat Denny was later shot to death in an LA night club. Karma.Wrong, wrong again, thousands got away with looting *and* murder, and were never caught. The 10,000 that were arrested wound up getting amnesty and a slap on the wrist, and this include thousands of illegal aliens.

Its self defense.Killing innocent civilians who threaten no harm is self-defense?
I don't expect I'll be able to show you the error of your ways, but hopefully other reading this thread will understand that what you propose is simpleminded at best, and despicable at worst.

Well, at any rate, probably something FAR WORSE than YOU wish will befall the Fallujans.
Come back and bemoan them then. In the meantime..... cut it with the messiah shtick. You don't wear it well.
