I feel like I am eavesdropping on people I don't know. How DO Rush and Sean make us feel like we are participating, even when we are not?

I feel like I am eavesdropping on people I don't know. How DO Rush and Sean make us feel like we are participating, even when we are not? Because they, like Ronald Reagan, like Dubya, make you feel proud to be an American citizen.
Liberals make you feel angry and guilty about living on the earth.

(John Kerry is nothing more than Ted Kennedy without a dead girl in the car.)

I don't have a complete answer, but I believe they are using a bit of a technique described to me years ago by a DJ on a local Idaho station. His approach was to visualize a single listener somewhere in the audience, and then talk to that one individual. To him, his broadcasting was a conversation with one individual instead of a speech to all. In this way each listener would feel part of the process, even if they had a passive role.
