This is a story about George Soros, philanthropist billionaire and political crusader. But first some background.

The formation of the American Liberty League was announced on Aug. 22, 1934. Its backers were rich and powerful conservative business and political leaders of both major parties who hated Roosevelt and his New Deal. And "hated" is not too strong. A New Yorker cartoon at the time showed three evening-gowned dowagers in diamond tiaras with a caption "Let's all go down to the Translux [a New York newsreel theatre of the time] and hiss Roosevelt."

what goes around comes around in all senses for those with a political ear for NY politics of the last seven decades or so.

Soros won't be any more successful than the others tilting against the tide.

I wonder how George Soros views the situation in Iraq? If it didn't matter how Iraq got to where it is today, would he consider the opening of Iraq society in a positive light, or would he believe the situation that existed before, one that resembled the Germany that Mr. Bush's statement reminds him of, would be preferrable?

>>George Soros views the situation in Iraq?

He wouldn't care one way or the other - except for one thing --- the war on terrorism is Bush's strongest poll result.....so he's against it.

If a billionaire on the right were doing to politics what Soros is doing, the dims and the media would go ballistic.

Interesting theory!!

The problem, however, seems to be supply & demand.....the Chinese are providing the demand....and refineries are maxed.

When Jewish folks decide to "go native" (assimilate, deny their heritage) they traditionally change their names. "Soros" is the future tense of the Esperanto verb sori, to soar. This is the non-Jewish name George's dad chose for their family.

I understand that and also the dollars continued fall and rise and fall, but could Soros be playing, or threatening to play with a countries' currency or some other machinations?

I lived with a "Machiavelli" and know the lengths these people will go to insure their Prince becomes ruler.

Soros is often described as a businessman. In fact he makes his money as a currency speculator. He therefore has a vested interest in chaos; this is why he supports the legalization of drugs, open immigration, and the Democratic party.
