March 31, 2004 -- STAMFORD, Conn. - More than 18 months away from the West Wing haven't curbed Karen Hughes' appetite for a political fight - as President Bush's one-time right-hand woman yesterday ripped into Sen. John Kerry while promoting her new book. Speaking before 125 people at the Marriott here, the first stop on a 16-city tour in support of her new book "10 Minutes from Normal," Hughes assailed the Democratic presidential nominee on both domestic and foreign issues.

"Senator Kerry hinted that he is uncomfortable using the word 'war,' " Hughes said. "I don't think al Qaeda shares those sensibilities."

Right now I am envisioning myself listening to a conversation between Mark Steyne and Karen Hughes. It is heavenly.

She was on O'Riley last night and she was so good. I cannot wait to read her book!

Kerry's record is his own biggest obstacle to the WH. As more of his dismal record is revealed, I think more voters will begin to see that we have a choice between Bush and a pig in a poke.

The choice is clear.

Karen Hughes. So far, the only person in the world who can charm O'Reilly and outtalk him at the same time. Brilliant.

Very much agree. That's the least O'Reily has ever said in any interview. She was so good, he kept her on for a third segment.

Funny I notice that same trait among certain friends of mine. Shortly after 9/11, and before we went into Afghanistan, I was corrected for saying that we are at war.

Some continue this state of denial while questioning the overall role of the US in the world.

The election in November is, without question, the most important in our lifetime. Once Bush is re-elected, our enemy will understand our resolve despite the appeasers in our midst.

She was on Charlie Rose's show too. He seems to be off in la-la land, but she was good.

Is there really any need for that sort of vicious personal attack? </dem_party_line>

Hughes charged that "the biggest mistake we could make right now is to follow Senator Kerry's lead and raise taxes."

More evidence of the vicious Republican Attack Machine in action.

She was on 20/20 the other night, and Barbara Walters' disdain and distaste for her (and her politics) was palpable. Walters asked her to sum up GWB, and Karen quoted something the president had said, "conservative with a heart," which became "compassionate conservatism." Baba recoiled and nearly spat, something to the effect, "You're responsible for that?"

I think we'll see more of the "Unsinkable" Karen Hughes as the 04 campaign heats up. She has a "real life" as well and it shows.

I actually went to the site to see if they really used the term "Bushie" (although I know you would not change the title). That is disgusting...have they no respect for the President at all? Wait...you don't need to answer that...
