The U.S. government encourages families to have children, as many of them as possible. Child tax credits, child-care tax deductions, and family leave policies all reward parents with big broods.

my thoughts exactly...why not a small tax break for productive people that have children? The welfare system has been rewarding unproductive people for having more children for nigh on forty years...

No worries. Social Security can keep itself afloat with a steadily decreasing base of wage earners. It's fine if western culture lets itself be outbred. Hakuna matata....

The thing that this article doesn't take into account is that families with "big broods" end up supporting smaller "childless" couples in their old age because all the children in those "big broods" end up working, working, working to meet their Social Security and Medicare contributions.

Another leftist a** trying to tell the rest of us how to lead our lives.
These vermin need extermination. I wonder if a tax break for ridding society of rats is in order.

#6 Very true, and good points. My point was that the left's sins of omissions. No surprise there though...

Europe and Russia are in population declines right now. I think the US would be as well, if it weren't for immigration, and certianly if not for the hispanic population.
If there is to be a human future, we need humans to populate it. Hopefully, humans with a culture to build, create, and advance.
The only real way government can do that is with tax breaks. As for poor families, they don't pay taxes anyway, so they're irrelevant to the discussion.
The only families a tax break will help are families with a productive culture. Exactly the families we should WANT to have more kids.

When I hear about goofs like this I want them to have look a group of children in the face and say which one should be killed. After all, the children of vig families are here, now what? It's like the yo-yos who talk about every driving smaller vehicles when they only have themselves to drive around.

One's income must be of certain levels to take advantage of multiple child decuctions. You can only deduct to the point of zero tax. Deductions beyond zero tax do nothing for you and provide no encouragements for anything. The people referred to in this article clearly do not have the income level where they would benefit from multiple child deductions.
Contrary to the point of the article, we DO want to engourage larger families for those families that can afford to be larger.

Good points. Especially this one: As for poor families, they don't pay taxes anyway, so they're irrelevant to the discussion. The only families a tax break will help are families with a productive culture. Exactly the families we should WANT to have more kids.
A family making $25k/yr is going to pay the same in taxes whether they've got 2 or 10 kids - zero.

Interesting article on the worldwide population decline -
"In Sweden and Italy fertility has been below replacement level for so long that the population has become old enough to have more deaths than births. Declines in fertility will eventually increase the average age in the world, and will cause a decline in world population forty to fifty years from now."
"In almost every country where people have moved from traditional ways of life to modern ones, they are choosing to have too few children to replace themselves. This is true in Western and in Eastern countries, in Catholic and in secular societies. And it is true in the richest parts of the richest countries. The only exceptions seem to be some small religious communities. We can't be sure what will happen in Muslim countries, because few of them have become modern yet..."

What a steamy pile of bovine scat. The question I have is whether he's a pawn of the pro-homosexual, the pro-abortion, or the pro-euthanasia movement--well I guess that's redundant.

Question: Am I going to read the full article?
Answer: Nope.
Question: Why?
Answer: I can't imagine getting my own head as far up my own ass as the writer of such must have his, hers or its, to even engage and think about such drivel

I wonder if the welfare system does the same. /sarcasm....Welfare pays by the head for as many as you can have. Much more than your child deduction on your tax form. And of course we know that illegal aliens use their children born here as a hook to be allowed to stay.
