Despite the threat of losing millions of dollars in state and federal funding, a California school board is refusing to adopt a new anti-discrimination policy that would offer special protective status to transsexuals and others confused about their gender.
The California Department of Education has told the Westminster School District in Orange County that it must update its anti-discrimination policy to include the word "sex." But three of the district's five school board members are standing firm and say they will not support language that allows students or staff to immorally redefine their gender.
Trustee Judy Ahrens, a Christian, says making these changes to the policy could lead to all kinds of problems.
"If you put the word 'sex' in, then people who want to act cute at school, or have a sex-identity crisis that day, will be protected under the new policy -- if we adopted it. Then we'd have lawsuits by parents when their kids are traumatized, and boys want to come in and peek into girls' bathrooms. We're just headed down a slippery slope if we include this word," Ahrens says.
Besides, the board member insists, the change is simply not necessary. She believes the state wants to redefine the word "gender" to further the homosexual agenda, but she says she does not intend to let that happen.
"Gender means female or male, boy or girl," Ahrens notes, "and we don't have to change the connotation. Now, the state is very subtle in sneaking in -- saying 'Well, it can mean biological or perceived sex.' Well, we don't want little boys sneaking in [to girl's bathrooms or locker rooms], being peeping Toms, because they want to dress up as a girl that day."
The school board is having to deal with some consequences as a result of its refusal to offer special protections for transsexuals. A meeting scheduled for next Thursday had to be relocated because of the publicity the policy debate has generated. And there has already been significant monetary fallout as well. Westminster School District officials say that Bank of America has refused to extend a $16 million loan to the district.
Ahrens says she has been praying for her fellow board members, that they will not cave in to outside pressure from the California Department of Education and pro-homosexual activists.

Ahrens almost broke down in tears during an interview, saying the pressure of repeated arguments with constituents and media interviews has left her drained. But she also said she's heard from supporters around the country who believe she's doing the right thing. "Morality is not for sale, at any price," she said. "I represent family-oriented parents here. Family values should be important." Bless her for standing strong - if you feel up to sending your moral support to Judy, here's the school district's address: 14121 Cedarwood Ave, Westminster, CA 92683 My thank you card is on the way.

What kind of parent lets their kid go to school dressed/acting as the other gender. What society do we live in where Johnny gets to dressed as Jane, and mom and dad stand behind that and force the district into legitimizing it. Not sure about you but when I was in school a drag-queen would have definetly distracted from the learning process.

Since when is policy implemented to increase confusion in any issue? The very concept of policy in a sane world is to clarify a problem in black and white, then take the proscribed steps to alleviate the confusion. The liberals seek to add a shade of pink, in order to confuse the majority. The Bank mentioned in this article should be forced to change their name to the Bank of Gomorrah.

Homosexual Agenda Ping!! Good News!
Now if only more and more school boards in every state would stand up to GLSEN, GLAAD and the other homosexual-terrorist organizations. Oh, and the legislature of California; it seems to be an arm of the homosexual promoting organizations.
Let me know if anyone wants on/off this pinglist.

IMHO, it is obvious that setting up a policy in the name of protecting minor children claiming to be transsexuals is a red herring, but even worse, it is virtually a medical impossibility.
Until the medical process of gender conversion is complete, a person's gender is obviously as they were born. Given that most sex change processes require two years of living as a member of the opposite sex before that point just where did this massive population of suffering children get parental permission for the initiation of a sex change procedure at the age of sixteen? What kind of physician would perform such a procedure on a minor?
The whole argument in favor of such a policy is insane.

You mean to tell me that there are actually some sane individuals living in California who work in public education? Incredible. I had long written off California to the liberal looney left -- especially the public schools.

What kind of physician would perform such a procedure on a minor? Even after "gender conversion," a person is still genetically what he or she was originally. A man can have his private parts removed, artificial female ones added and be pumped full of female hormones, but, genetically, he's still male. His bone structure is still male. There are even differences between male and female brains (no jokes, please!). He can never, truly, be a woman -- just a wannabee.
