I have always preferred the Pritikin Diet of complex carbohydrates.

Eating whole grains and lots of fruits and veggies delivered the way nature intended is a no-brainer.

Lean meats like turkey, fish and chicken are the most healthy.

Beef kills.

I am a diabetic (treating it by diet and exercise). I have to eat only complex Carbs and certain veggies and fruits only plus lots of protein and believe me the difference is incredible. I have more energy and feel so much more healthier than when I ate Pastas and White Flour breads. I can't eat white potatoes either or corn but I don't miss them at all anymore.

I think there is no one diet choice for everyone. I've seen folks who did well on Atkins, and some who have to eat a near vegetarian diet with whole foods only not manage their weight. I don't judge peoples eating choices, nor do I proselytize that one is superior.
That said, my die hard vegetarian mother hates Bush...but doesn't like Kerry enough to bother voting.

Grains, fruits, and vegetables aren't food. They're what food eats.

No, no, it's not that "red meat kills" ~ rather, it's "omega 6 from animals that kills". A diet rich in seafood ("omega 3"), nuts and lo-carb legumes is correct. Our natural range is in the estuaries and on the shorelines of oceans, lakes and great riers. That's where you find the good stuff.

The fact that about 47% of all human beings have some degree of an inherited allergy to seafood or fish should not discourage you from adopting our most natural diet.

In a few short generations, those people will be removed from the genepool, and we will all be like the Norwegians who have only a 2% inherited allergy to seafood.

(BTW, the PETA nutcases against catching fish or killing crabs are totally off the mark. They should learn to leave the sheep and chickens alone. Just quit playing with them anyway.)
