It is estimated that 50,000 to 65,000 undocumented students graduate from high school in the United States each year. Upon graduation these youth cannot work legally, nor can they qualify for in-state tuition at universities because they aren't considered residents.

Lets get the strikeout above straight first.

I strongly believe these people that are illegally here and got a High School education on MY dime (and your's too fellow taxpayers) should be allowed to go to college.

First they should pay for all the services (school, welfare {if applicable) food stamps {if applicable} and other gov assistance as applies) that they have already availed themselves of.

Then they should go back to their OWN country and try to bring it up to the standards of the USA.

Then they can apply for citizenship through the proper channels here as the wife of a friend of mine has been trying for years to do for his wife who is in Mexico City.

She is going through all the red tape and it is taking her years while thousands just walk across the borders into our schools and hospitals and jobs.

I work at a University. I wonder why they want to punish foreign students that didn't illegally sneak into this country in favor of those that did. Maybe all the asian students should just have their familys send them here a couple of years in advance, so they can save tuition.

There are many Mexican universities which offer free college --- this is where these students should go --- they can obviously attend college ---- back home where they belong.

I disagree about college. They should not get residence because as an illegal they are not resident. If they are legally admitted under a J visa, they have to pay full freight, thus those that are illegal immigrants should be treated the same as a J visa holder. They should be treated as any other immigrant catagory if them must. This also means first year seat preference for LEGAL residents, over all J and illegals.

The Dream act is just an excuse to bring the rest of the family legally over, or keep the rest of the family legally here without having to go back.

There are procedures to permit parole while an application for legalization is pending. For example a tourist who comes into the usa and marries a US citizen is GENERALLY able to stay in this country while the change of status is done. (change of status is not allowed if you are here on a visa waver, a green I-94a card.)

Part of this entire issue is that there are TWO types of illegals, the overstay who come LEGALLY and are "inspected" at the border; and the illegal entry who have not been "inspected" and recorded at the border. The second group is the most problematic in terms of lealizing and in terms of being MOST vocal and most demanding of public aid.

The second group is also open to identity fraud since they can literally claim to be a nobody when in fact they are a criminal back home.
