WASHINGTON, March 28 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Hundreds of grassroots leaders representing National People's Action (NPA) are paying a visit to the home of President Bush (news - web sites)'s Senior Policy Advisor Karl Rove on Sunday, March 28, because he refused to meet with them to discuss the rights of immigrant youth.

NPA and immigrant rights' leaders want the White House to support the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act (DREAM Act). It would grant access to instate tuition for children of immigrants whose families have been in the county at least five years and paid taxes for three. The DREAM Act has 62 co-sponsors and the White House is standing in the way of it being brought to a vote this year.

NPA Leaders plan to arrive at Rove's house, located at 4925 Weaver Terrace, N.W., in Washington around 4 p.m. "We paid our way to come to Washington, D.C., to talk to Rove, and he wouldn't listen," said Tomasa Fonseca, an educator from Marshalltown, Iowa. "So we came to his house to ask him to support the dreams of our youth."

It is estimated that 50,000 to 65,000 undocumented students graduate from high school in the United States each year. Upon graduation these youth cannot work legally, nor can they qualify for in-state tuition at universities because they aren't considered residents.

Recently, the Bush administration came out in support of a guest worker plan, which would allow immigrant workers temporary residency for a maximum of six years. NPA leaders believe that Bush's plan will divide hard working immigrant families. The DREAM Act, on the other hand, is an example of positive immigration reform that would give immigrant youth the opportunity to realize the American Dream by becoming workers, tax payers and positive community leaders.

"We are here today to send a strong message to the Bush administration," said Emira Palacios, NPA Co-Chairperson. "We are telling them that if they want the Hispanic vote, they must give us the DREAM Act."

National People's Action is a 33-year-old multi-racial/ethnic, inter-generational non-partisan coalition of hundreds of local community organizations that volunteer their time to make communities throughout the United States safer, healthier and more stable environments.

Here is the comment I received at TastyManatees.com from Lynn Rogers.

"Please let everyone know that no tax money from Wichita Public Schools were used in this attack on Mr. Rove. If a teacher or staff member were part of this, it was on their own time and their own dime. THOSE ARE NOT WICHITA BUSES - we would not have allowed them to be used in that way. I assume they were rented by the protestors. I DO NOT CONDONE THIS TYPE of Protest towards anyone. My apologies to Mr. Rove and his entire family.

I believe this gentleman's assertion that Wichita wouldn't allow this type of use of school district property. In addition, I have not yet seen any claims in the press coverage that there were children present from Wichita, Kansas, so I don't think it would be responsible to assume that Ms. Palacios had brought children from her school. Therefore, I have pulled the links to Ms. Palacios' Principal and Board of Education member. While I still decry Ms. Palacios' tactics as morally disgusting and arguably criminal, I don't believe that she misused her position as a school employee to secure buses or children for her attacks on Mr. Rove, Secretary Chao, or the Washington office of J.P. Morgan.

However, it still appears that there were children from Cleveland present at Sunday's violent attack on Mr. Rove's home. Understandably, I believe that Ms. Killingsworth, an employee of a Cleveland middle school, may have brought children from her school to this violent event and stood by while criminal activity occurred.

National Peoples Action also wants discounted home loans, special considerations from law enforcement, and government to do something about the crowded and littered environments they live in. And lots and lots of yobs.

Just come to the point. They want more mooch money.
