Socialist Cousin Insists (Socialist) Kerry Isn't French

John Kerry's French cousin insists there's nothing gallingly Gallic about the Massachusetts Democrat.

"John Kerry is incredibly American," claimed cousin Brice Lalonde, mayor of Saint-Briac-Sur-Mer and environment minister under Socialist former president Francois Mitterrand. "He has absolutely nothing French about him."

The Associated Press reported today: "With the race for the White House turning nasty - and France-U.S. ties not quite mended from the Iraq war - Kerry's Gallic clan, when questioned, talks up his American-ness. Some are keeping a low profile, saying too much talk about France could be political arsenic."

Lalonde admitted, "I'm afraid to hurt him," but like other Frenchies has a Kerry bumper sticker pasted to his car.

Ian Forbes, Kerry's 85-year-old uncle who lives at Les Essarts, said: "Monsieur Bush is angry with France. We don't want to accentuate the connection between Johnny and France."

Curiously enough, Lalonde and company made no denials about Kerry being a socialist.

He isn't French. Except when he is. And he's Catholic. Except when he's Jewish. And he's war hero, except when he's a peacnik.

Hey, maybe you have something there, since we read that Chirac's gov't is under some pressure by the Socialists. Maybe we could export Kerry.

Sunday Soapbox:
Kerry's French frame of mind is perfect match with Chirac
March 21, 2004

To the editor: The Democrats are making much ado about who should be John Kerry's running mate. Kerry and his minions have been proclaiming that certain unnamed leaders and much of the rest of the world want President Bush to lose the election, so I think Kerry should hop across the pond and offer the veep job to French President Jacques Chirac.

They have much in common.

They both love socialist policies with high taxes and strong government control over every aspect of private life. They both think the war in Iraq was a bad idea. They both believe the ultimate power over U. S. security resides within the United Nations, and that all American citizens must be educated to realize that fact. They both want to kiss up to terrorist Yasser Arafat while pooh-poohing Israel. They both loathe Bush, and they both speak French.

When a candidate sounds French, acts French and cites French opinion polls to bolster his own case to be American president, my recommendation becomes quite logical. So, go ahead Democrats, fly a tricolor flag and cry "Vive Saddam" as you vote for Kerry, the French candidate for president.
