Another in the never-ending series of Bush bashers. He is being touted as a "witness" to the Sept 12, 2001 meeting in which Clarke claims Bush asked for proof that Saddam was involved in the attack the day before.

I noticed that this guy has been hired by NBC, and have read that Clarke has also been hired as a media consultant. This paid Bush-bashing is just warming up and will culiminate in a frenzy during the CFR blackout period 60 days before the election. Also noticed that Elisabeth Bumiller and Judith Miller seem to originate a lot of the Cressey stories.

The Bush Administration has now admitted that the meeting "probably took place"

There's still a discrepancy in the stories. The media will paint it using Clarke's story about Bush obsessed by Saddam. But in Bush's speeches terrorism was his highest priority before, during and after 9/11.

President Bush's biggest mistake has been trusting anyone associated with the Clinton White House to be honorable, let alone loyal. I don't care that Clarke also worked under Republicans....the fact that he worked closely with Bill Clinton, and never resigned, tells me all I need to know about his character.

Richard Clarke to lead homeland security consulting firm, He's joining Roger Cressey, with whom he worked at the President's Critical Infrastructure Protection Board

Clarke would have been sitting pretty if he had stopped a cyber attack by bin Laden.

Too bad Clarked failed to prevent an attack, because al Qaeda decided to use planes instead of computers.

I agree. His effort to be nice and non-partisan was not just rhetoric, but with Dems out for blood that was pretty much a wasted effort.

That's great to know, because in some of my discussions with some liberals at work they've been saying he never gave a speech dealing with Bin Laden or Al Quaeda befoer 9-11. Can you give me a link to one of his speeches so that I can use it as ammo against those lefties?

"We have no higher priority than the defense of our people against terrorist attack."

from http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/20010213-1.html

Also using the advanced search: http://www.whitehouse.gov/search?ql=a&st=1&nh=10&lk=1&rf=0&text=0, there were about the same number of results for Iraq and for terrorism before 9/11. I never saw Iraq placed at a higher priority in any speeches, usually he didn't talk about Iraq just rogue states and terrorism as part of a laundry list.
