That's the thing about terrorism isn't it... you don't know where it will strike next...

The US faces an election this year and Australia faces a Federal election sometime before early next year (our system works somewhat differently)... Australia, the US, the UK and other western nations can never rest until this Islamic terror scourge is brought to heel.

In the past few weeks we've heard reports of mysterious dead divers, that the truck that overturned on a bridge on I-95 in Connecticut was terrorist-related, plans of attacks on shipping...

Who was it who first said "the price of freedom is eternal vigilance?" Both our countries (as well as others) need to remember that lesson.

An alert is raised concerning our oil refineries along the Texas coast.I think the I 95 suspicians are a stretch,though I may have missed something.After 911 it's easy to see every catastrophe as terrorism.

Our oil facilities have always been considered a target ,so no one is surprised or cowering in fear..just the ones in charge of security are put on extra notice.There are fire bugs who would love to cause a big one,so vigilance is always appropriate.

Anybody catch last nights BOOKNOTES on C-SPAN? The book was about the German WW II saboteurs dropped here by U-Boats and captured.

I have heard that sleep deprivation, assuming you are not in a hurry, is 100% effective. After 100-120 hours without sleep, you'll tell all you know just for a chance to shut your eyes.

Remember in Gulf War I, where Bush pronounced Saddam as "Sad am" which meant "dirty little shoe shine boy."

So I can imagine, from seeing it from pictures (I have a "thing" for tall buildings, and from when I was at grade school until relatively recently the Sears Tower was the world's tallest building, when the Petronas Towers were built.) I always wanted to see it for myself, but alas, every time I've flown in or out of O'Hare it's been dark...

In the nineteen eighties, my father's company used to have offices in the Rialto Towers in Melbourne, Australia (the closest thing I have to a home town) The Rialto Towers are the tallest in the Southern Hemisphere, and have also been mentioned as a potential 9/11-style threat. Creepy.

al-Qa'ida seems to have been taken by surprise – both by the success of the attacks and by the US reaction.

They were still thinking Clinton or Algore was in the White House, or that Bush would be Clintonlike. They also thought all Democrats were pacifist. They also didn't have a clue about Americans. For someone out to change the world, they sure were living in dreamland, soon to be in gone-and-forgotten land.

I'm not even that concerned about the information we extract as I am giving these examples of human slime the experience of feeling the pain that all the victims of 9/11 felt as they died horrible deaths in the twin towers, and giving thier families the experience of having someone go away and never coming back and knowing that they died a painful death with the taste of thier own blood in thier mouths.

I say an eye for an eye, brother and nothing short of a slow,extremely painful death for these sh*theads is unacceptable to me.

He stayed in a hotel in Lawrenceville and worked out at a local gym here(which had to change it's name btw afterwards) and flew out of Briscoe Field here in Gwinnett as well as PDK I think.

I think the gym was LA Fitness, at the corner of
Hurricane Shoals Road and L'ville/Suwanee Road;
and I think the motel was the 'Microtel' on Hwy 316
between Collins Hill Road and L'ville/Suwanee Road,
(at least that is the local scuttlebutt).
I live about 5 miles or so from both places.

Atta and Marwan Al-Shehhi (some say they were cousins)
flew at least a few trips out at Briscoe Field in Gwinnett County.
I never heard about any flights from P'tree/Dekalb.
Atta was aboard flight 11 that hit the north tower.
Al-Shehhi was aboard flight 175 that hit the south tower.

While reading up on this from google sources,
I just now found out that a THIRD hijacker, Ziad Jarrah,
was also in Atlanta during the same time period.
He was on flight 93 taken down by patriots over Pennsylvania.

Third hijacker also stayed in the Atlanta area

Their names remain secret. The two men showed up at Kennedy Airport on Sept. 13 seeking to board a Los Angeles-bound flight with tickets dated Sept. 11, the day of the attack. Authorities at the airport grew suspicious because their tickets were backdated and because all four of the flights that were hijacked flew out of Eastern airports and were bound for the West Coast. The Daily News has learned that authorities found two pieces of evidence that prosecutors believed could link the two Saudis to the terror plot.
