Additionally, Bradley kept cutting her off mid thought. I disagree. Bradley NEVER cut her off in mid thought... the editors did. Had Bradley done so, Rice would have been irritated and insisted on completing here point. This was obviously done in editing, unfairly and unethically. Bradley's questions and interuptions were NOT filmed at the same time.
This is obvious because when he did appear to interupt, Rice's voice was not continuing under his interuption! The editors lopped off Rice's answer, inserted a post-interview interuption from Bradley. and then inserted a response from Rice.
This is especially noticeable in Rice's last comment before they went to commercial... Rice's voice did not have the normal drop in inflection everyone uses indicating the end of a sentence... she was just abruptly cut off in mid sentence... right where CBS and 60 Minutes wanted her cut off!

That's a fine point but an important one, and a good catch.

It's not that she didn't do fine. It's that she was steamrollered. You mean the same way Leslie Stahl mercilessly peppered Clarke with tough questions and interruptions as they strolled through the park? LOL, thank God '60 Minutes' is a fading dinosaur and the "correspondents" are mostly fossilized liberal relics. What's that scumbag Bradley now, about 75?
To: ladyinred
All they will do is make speeches and smear her, Yup. And if she doesn't appear publicy at the hearings witch hunt, the Dims will claim she's covering up something. Heads I win -- tails you lose.
That being said, I'd like her to tell them to stuff it. Her appearance there will only lend the illusion of credibility to this farce.
To: section9
I think if Rice shows up at the hearings with a "potted plant" who can whisper nothings in her ear from time to time and give her an excuse to plead 'executive privelege' when a commission member asks something too sensitive, she can control the situation and knock the Democrats silly.
To: Triple Word Score
You think it's appropriate for Ed Bradley to repeatedly demand that Rice and the Bush Administration apologize, as Clarke did, for 9/11? I'm sorry, I can't see where in heck you're coming from if that doesn't offend you.
Only those who are at fault need to apologize!
Any apologies should come from Al Qaida, Saddam Hussein, Osama Bin Laden, and the thousands of Islamic priests who have urged their congregations to kill infidels.

Hmmmm? I thought CBS' ratings were in the toilet, being followed closely by ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CNN and then the leader FOX.
Most of the people who saw the interview already had a bad image of Condi - this was nothing new to them.

Karen Hughes gave an interview - she said, she is working part-time for the campaign now - will be working FULL-TIME for the campaign after the convention in August.

OMG .. not another one who think Condi has to testify in public or it looks like we're hiding something.
Good grief! When are people going to find out how their government operates? This is the congress DICTATING TO THE PRESIDENT'S OFFICE how things will be done - sorry it's not going to happen that way. It's the Executive branch that calls the shots. The congress write legislation - PERIOD!! They do not control what the Executive branch can do or say.
The NSC Advisor is the President's closest advisor - now you tell me why the DEMOCRATS want to force her to testify? It's as obvious as the nose on your face.

A subtle fact has emerged from Condi's comments and testimony we've heard from the 911 commission: President Bush had decided to eliminate al Qaeda after taking office. Did that trigger al Qaeda's sense of urgency when it hit the WTC, the Pentagon, and tried to hit the Whitehouse? If there were a policy change, and al Qaeda was responding to it, how did it learn of the policy change? Could there have been a mole who decided to use this information for the political advantage of the Democratic party? I have no special knowledge; I'm just asking curious questions.

"Above all else, STOP WHINING LIKE LOSERS AS IF THE MEDIA CONTROLS YOUR VERY THOUGHTS." Well said.

He told her NO? Really? Wow! I have it TIVO'ed so I went back and looked. Bradley was mentioning what Clark alledges, quoting Hugh Shelton, quoting Woodward's book.
Condi says, "I'm saying that the administration took seriously the threat. Let's talk about what we did."
Bradley immediately starts to sputter (this isn't an exact quote) "But, no, but, but, I understand, you've, no no" He was totally talking over her, hoping to shut her up! Then he says, "You've listed the things you have done, but here is the perception.." and then he goes on to reiterate all the people criticizing the administration.
Oddly enough, if Condi did list all the things the administration has done, it looks like it ended up on the cutting room floor.

Who controlled the Gore voters, hmm?

Hmmmm? Didn't Clarke's book make a nice precursor to Bill's book which is due out in June.
How about Clarke's revisonist history of the Clinton admin now showing up in Bill's book; if they can get the public to buy it.
But .. good news tonight! CNN is reporting there is no change to people's good perception of the President - and some people on their poll said that their perception of the President has IMPROVED this week. Looks like the dems didn't get what they wanted after all.

A bad president would have done everything he could to silence this commission. As it stands, we have his cabinet defending itself on 60 minutes with restrained voices and careful comments. No big deal. Taking it in stride. Answering without shame. I like it.

I'd say it's more like the "good" black people (NAACP), and the "bad" black people (Condi).
Hope that's not too racist for some people.

Ok, either I missed this program or it wasn't shown here (yet). I tried to find!!!!
So forgive me for not having the feelings I see projected here. Condi is so great, so strong, I can't see how her not appearing in person can do anything but help. It would be an 'in your face'. It would have everyone's attention. After all, Rumsfeld, Powell and Tenet have appeared in person. Condi is as strong as they.
I have spent the last 3 days catching up with the C-Span hearings. I feel we have stated our case well. Condi will, imo, will be the final word. Please educate me to what I'm missing and where I'm wrong.

Thanks for posting that - I remember the Weekly Standard guy on FOX telling this information.
It shows how selective CBS is.

No big deal???
Whoever okayed these hearings now is working for the opposition. It's nearly criminal to be dissecting strategy when there are men and women fighting and dying in Iraq.
Rice is no doubt a good person, but she did not come across as strong and confident. She hesitated. She stammered. Her head nodded in agreement when she was asked loaded questions. KEEP YOUR HEAD STILL! You're not supposed to be sympathizing with the interrogator; you're supposed to shut him up with your intelligent command of the interview.
Enough defense. If gas is $3/gallon this summer, Bush is toast. And I can't take another four years of the dimwits and their godless agenda.
