You are probably right. I admit, I was leaning towards hypocrisy, being as that seems to be the liberal MO these days.

Does every president get a vessel named after him? Who decides what name a ship gets anyway?

I don't know. There's probably a naming committee at the Pentagon or Department of Defense.

Carriers, for a time, were named for battles, hence Saratoga, Yorktown, Lexington. Somewhere along the line they started naming them for admirals and presidents. So we have the Ike, the Reagan, etc.

One would hope Carter remembers his deployment of the Trident ... probably our best deterrent ... he needs to remember a strong offensive capability is America's best security ...

If I recall wasn't Mr. Carter a nuke engineer on a sub?
Check it out.
That is why he had problems with the little things.
Still a total pathetic dumbass but still a nuke engineer.
And possibly the father of the ugliest daughter ever to be in the white house.

Carter served 2 years on a submarine (the only president to do so), so it's not all that unreasonable to name one after him.

yesterday they said Morocco was being used at one time in an attempt to create suicide boats, a la the one that attacked the USS Cole, in an attempt to ram U.S. and British warships as they passed through the narrow Strait of Gibraltar, which I think they said was only 10 miles wide ... they need a strong attack helo escort when moving through those waters ... plus maybe the semi-rigid craft ...

Is'nt it a tradition to wait for someone to be dead before you name ships after them?

Was'nt an exception made for Reagan?

Anybody have control of a fleet of garbage scows? Name two after the clintons.

The C.O. of the USS Jimmy Carter was recently relieved of command.
That boat is jinxed. They should have named it after Caspar Weinberger.

If you think service on the CARTER would suck, just wait until the CLINTON gets launched! Imagine the jokes there! And what kind of a vessel will it be? A barge on the Arkansas River?
