"If we were to just allow that, by default, we are taking a political stance, whether we want to or not," said Neil Korsmo, chief ranger at the site.

Asshole.

Sounds like a Park Service employee making a political statement.

Can you imagine what it's like for a doctrinaire lunatic-left Democrat to have to tend to the affairs of the Hoover Memorial?!

I say send 'em all there! Make them suffer. Ferret these people out wherever they are within the Department of Interior, and transfer them to this monument.

Anothe rexample of how warped people are becoming. You can't even support the soldiers without it being political. Politics has nothing to do with it.

You know, immediately after 9-11, this country was united as not seen since WWII.

That wasn't good for the Left.

So, with their CONSTANT, INCESSANT sniping, carping, and whining, ALL with the direct intention of...electing a Dim president this year, we have come to this. A yellow ribbon as a "political statement". You know, we in the service are now advised NOT to travel in our uniforms? For this reason, when I came home in February, I missed the simple dignity of stepping off a plane in my Dress Blues to greet my wife and son, as an honorable Sailor should after a difficult deployment. See, we can't have any "incidents", can we?

Just one of the MANY things the Left, in all its squalorous inglory, has stolen from Americans.

All because they hate the president more than they ever loved their own country.

For three years, they have done everything in their power to turn America against its President, its Troops, and its War. It is now showing up in so many ways.

I wish someone, ANYONE in public office would point this out. We would still be as united as ever if the Leftist dogs would have just refrained from their cowardly attacks.

Sometimes, it makes one simply depressed and sad.

It seems as if the left has done MORE whining, carping and sniping since 9/11. There are times that seem as if they are in a mad frenzy to get back at President Bush.

I'd be willing to bet that if you waited a couple of months and then stuck rainbow flags in the same locations, they'd be untouched forever.

"The Hoover site has a designated free-speech area (search), as do other park service sites, Korsmo said. West said if she had known that, she would have posted the ribbons there."

And they would have immediately been forn down by 'non-political' citizens exercising THEIR right to listen only to free speech that pleases them.

Fox seems to be raising the bar a bit in the way they are reporting on the dems. The other Kerry (sp?) must have pissed them off with his outrageous rhetoric.

Dear morons,

"Go, Bush, Go" is a political statement.

"No war for oil" is a political statement.

Yellow ribbons are hopes for our troops to come home safe. Yellow ribbons are NOT political statements.

But taking down the yellow ribbons IS a political statement. Taking DOWN yellow ribbons implies that YOU want our troops to NOT COME HOME.

SHAME ON YOU.

Here's mine:
This message is to the person who ordered taking down the yellow ribbons and whoever is reading it to you.

I am extremely disappointed that you have taken the position that welcoming troops home is a political statement.

You are a self-important pin head who is not fit to carry either the jock strap or bra of the people who are defending our country. I would like to be polite, but I'm sick of political hacks. With all the whining I hear about underfunding of the Parks Service, I'm surprised that you have enough spare time on your hands to sit around and think of ways to insult every person who has a loved one over there, defending your right to be a jerk.

Best regards

AAAAAAAARRRRGGGGGGGH.

Sorry to tell you, but you folks have been HAD -- ROYALLY.

There were dozens of these ribbons all along the streets where I live this past week.

Yeah, about the same time this "lady" put them up.

THEY ARE NOTHING BUT A POLITICAL STATEMENT, just as the Parks guy said.

These ribbons were put up in MY town by the so-called "anti-war" people. This was done in conjunctions with the "world-wide anti-war demonstrations" of this past weekend. And YES, they are absolutely a political statement (I think I said that already. Urg.)

If someone wants to welcome the troops home, or show their support for a loved one, they might well put a ribbon in their front yard -- but NOT ALL ALONG THE MAIN STREETS where EVERYBODY has to look at them, all the time.

And NOT the same weekend that such yellow ribbons were being used elsewhere to send a very clear political propaganda message.

A very effective message they made, too.

At the epicenter of the city there were two intersections that had signs posted, several signs at each intersection. Each sign said,

Bring Them Home!

The very clear message: "Bush's war was a mistake. Bush lied, they died. Bring our troops home, NOW! Don't wait to clean up the Iraq mess. Don't consider the effects. BRING THEM HOME! And when it's time to vote for someone, pick Kerry, not Shrub!"

I personally ripped down the signs, and I ripped down dozens of ribbons, all of which were saying, in a loud and pervasive propaganda voice, "BRING THEM HOME!"

All conveniently bankrolled by our friend Kim Jong-Il and Communists, Islamists and liberals the world over.

Sorry, folks -- you've been HAD. Royally.

This parks guy needs our congratulations.

The park service gave the same reason in December when West and relatives of soldiers tried to post ribbons for a soldier who was coming home on furlough.

Actually, I missed that one sentence in the article. OK, so I suppoooooose THIS woman *could* be legitimate.

But I know for absolute certain that the SAME kind of ribbons, posted on the SAME kinds of poles, all along the streets of my city, on practically the SAME day as this woman "was involved in posting 40 ribbons" (I wonder is that how many she PERSONALLY posted and how many were posted in all) - I know that HERE, it was, VERY CLEARLY, an ANTI-GEORGE-BUSH, "ANTI-WAR" political statement.

Somehow the coincidence still seems just a weeeee bit too much....

This parks guy needs our congratulations.

Only if the circumstances are the same as you encountered....with the signs that said bring them home. There is nothing in the article about anything like that, so it's hard to say if the situations are the same.

No, no one owes anyone an apology. It's really not the business of any federal government employee to decide what is or is not political, or religious, or personal for that matter.

BTW, next time you feel offended by one of these free-wheeling yellow ribbons on a public street, rather than demanding that the government (that federal government employee) "do something", just park your car, walk down the street, and remove those ribbons yourself.

Frankly I am doggone tired of all the freeloaders in this country who believe the government owes them a living and that somehow it has to protect them from being offended!
