Teen suffers eye injury from potato-gun

ITHACA -- A 14-year-old Ithaca male was transported to the hospital after being accidentally hit in the eye by a potato-gun.
At 5:40 p.m. the Ithaca Police Department responded to 206 Cascadilla Park Road for the report of a teen with an eye injury. Police said it is believed the teen was creating the potato-gun -- using PVC piping, hair spray and combustion to propel potatoes -- for a science project.
After being transported by Bangs Ambulance to the Ithaca High School fields, the teen was air-lifted by Stat Medivac Helicopter to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa.
Ithaca Police Department and Ithaca Fire Department also responded to the incident. The 14-year-old's condition is unknown, police said.

We used soup cans duct-taped together with lighter fluid ... and substituted an old tennis ball for the potato(e)s!
And why wasn't his father supervising the construction of the potato(e) gun to teach jr. important things like, "don't put your face there"?
