The Council of Better Business Bureaus has recommended that Apple Computer discontinue comparative performance claims regarding its Power Mac G5 desktop.
Acting on a tip from Apple rival Dell, the council's National Advertising Division (NAD) "determined that the evidence provided by Apple did not provide a reasonable basis for its broad unqualified claims that its Power Mac G5 is 'the world's fastest, most powerful personal computer' and that it 'edged out the competition on integer.'"

No wonder Microsoft gets away with outrageous product claims all the time... their few remaining competitors are too frightened to complain!

The very best computer I have ever owned is a second-hand IBM Thinkpad, circa 1999, which is about seven pounds but is also a phreak of engineering genius, top to bottom. Given what they could do at the time, them boyz did it all.

When the nukes come, it and the cockroaches will be all that is left.

The green-eyed monster rears it's ugly head in the ranks of the Wintel plug-and-pray crowd. Why would anyone be envious of a Mac? Lets see... everything costs more, it does less, and is no where near as customizable.. yup I'm really envious.

Mine's a 390e, and just today I added a DVD drive. Once I got it going (16bit color, not 24bit!?!), I just stared slackjawed. Amazing that only a year after the 4.7gig DVD standard was finalized, IBM had a portable solution. Speakers suck, but this application is intended for headphones anyway, and they rock.
