What is the view among the population concerning the war in Iraq? That will determine whether the new govt opts to stay or not.

The electoral history of Poland after the fall of the "People's Republic" has been right-wing, left-wing, right-wing, and now left-wing. If there are new elections, the right will probably get in again.

Of the "ex-Commie" lot, Cimoszewicz is probably the smartest and has a pro-American streak. His daughter graduated from the University of South Carolina, and USC gave him an honorary doctorate. Cimoszewicz has also been arguing strongly for recognition of Europe's historic Christianity in the new EU constitution (whether from conviction or opportunism in a Catholic country, I don't know.)
