The national board of the Republican Liberty Caucus has just voted unanimously to endorse the Free State Project.

That's the movement working to get 20,000 liberty-lovers relocated into New Hampshire for the purpose of preserving one free place in this increasingly socialist-infested nation.

The national Libertarian Party, however, has voted not to endorse the FSP.

I'm afraid that's all they'll accomplish. The big flaw in an otherwise decent plan.

I tend to believe once some progress has been made in New Hampshire, people who prefer a more socialist/authoritarian agenda won't migrate there as much (and a few might even leave).

Like Utah or Nevada and some of the other states that have a general public perception, people who support those ideals will be drawn to it and there will be a positive reinforcement. That's what I'd hope for anyway.

Oh someone mentioned Hillary, that reminds me:

Frankly, I think this is a great idea with real potential. If my wife didn't mind cold climate, we might retire there.

Anyway, my response is....the existence of Federal heavyhandedness is all the more reason why a Free State Project is needed.

They might consider it, but note that during the breakup of the Soviet Union, though the Soviets considered something when the Estonians broke away from the old government, it didn't come to that. The price, interms of international censure and possible involvement would have been to high for them to pay, and possibly for Washington as well.

And while it's not easy to win a fight against a ruthless bully, it can sometimes be accomplished if his pants are on fire at the time....

There's no question that because of the FSP, the first place I would consider for a summer/second home is New Hampshire. Of course, I'm a long way from buying one...

oh and I LOVE the cold, which helps.

It's not landlocked and it shares a border with Canada, which I think is a plus.

I'm not sure what the name is but there are some zoned areas along the coast for international trade (I assume it's to allow import/export businesses without some of the tariffs). Someone help me out on the name. I can't remember what they were called.

I think a bill passed that gradually reduces the property taxes there over a decade or so.

Land value would go up if taxes lower, so land might be a good investment.
