[history]
With charges of racial insensitivity marring his recent appointment to a federal appeals court, Judge Charles Pickering Sr. tells his side of the story Sunday on CBS's 60 Minutes.
The TV news magazine airs in the Jackson area on WJTV-Channel 12, starting at 6 p.m. Pickering is interviewed by Mike Wallace.

"60 Minutes is a reputable national program [...]"Public intoxication is such an unfortunate personal trait in any man (or woman) of years. :)

"60 Minutes is a reputable national program and, consequently, that gave me the opportunity to reach people who otherwise would not have access to my side of the story." LOL! Is he naive or what?!!

No, the error was in this statement:
"60 Minutes is a reputable national program ..."
When you operate from that assumption, it's all downhill from there... I hope not, but film editing is film editing...

I'm having nightmare visions of a leering Lesley Stahl, leaning closer, during a fateful moment during the interview... her razored fangs gleaming cruelly... :)

Judge Pickering might be in for a shock if 60 Minutes gives him one of their normal edit jobs they reserve for Republicans. I recall they even made McCain look bad.

-----Just wait til he sees the piece after they finish editing it! Naive, naive, naive. It will be a typical 60 Minutes hit piece on poor Pickering.

Sen. Charles Schumer, D-New York, who voted against the nomination
Schumer's obstructionism, which started as a "shot across the bow" when the Bush administration was getting organized, did little in 2001 to help us fight terror.
Here's a quote from Schumer: February 1, 2001, only weeks after Bush's inauguration. Hard Feelings Remain After Ashcroft Vote,
"I am, for one, heartened that there were 42 votes against him. It's a shot across the bow in terms of the Justice Department and how it conducts itself. It's a shot across the bow in terms of Supreme Court nominations. It's a shot across the bow in terms of the push and pull within the Bush administration, to be moderate and bipartisan or to play to hard right. I'm proud of the job we did," Schumer said at a Capitol Hill news conference following the vote.
I wonder if Schumer will be so proud on his deathbed, when he thinks back on his selfish obstructionism in 2001 and connects it to our nation's lack of preparation for the terror which came only 8 months later.

HUH?Sorry. In simple terms, when one is subpeonaed they are then eligible to receive a compensation order from the court for their time. In addition, many employers including states have allowances for leave but they require the employee to be subpeonaed.
We hear so often about folks being forced to testify by subpeonae that we think its not used to willing witnesses but that is a false impression. That false impression is being used by this liberal to make their case. Its essentially a lie.

I can imagine that Pickering would be vulnerable to selective quotations by 60 Minutes, e.g.,:
Actual Pickering quote: "I have always believed that racial animosity and discrimination against Blacks are both morally wrong and intellectually bankrupt; there is no such thing as a superior or inferior race."
Pickering as edited: "I have always believed that . . . Blacks are . . . morally . . . and intellectually . . . inferior."

If you are foolish enough to allow youself to be interviewed for "60 Minutes", only do so on the condition that you get a copy of all raw footage and a chance to review the edited version before it goes to air.
If possible, demand air time immediately following the piece to perform any rebuttals or corrections.

"Great. Bet he gets the same fair treatment that Richard Clarke {spit} got! Yeah, right!!" Oh he's gonna get "the treatment," alright.
We can all bank on it, in fact I'll lay odds he gets the *Royal* SeeBS
gang-bang.
I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone in their right mind would give that filthy SeeBS & their smear circus 60 minutes the time of day.
Haven't people -- & especially conservatives -- wised up by now that they're only asked to appear on so they can be slandered & smeared?
...I just don't get it. {scratching head}
