I don't do this very often, so forgive me.
I was watching the ABC program tonight on Donald Rumsfeld at 8 P.M. EST.
Right in the middle of the show, here appears Richard Clarke, and down in the corner is the little ABC logo with the words ABC (SOMETHING) CONSULTANT. (Not sure what TYPE of consultant, but definitely CONSULTANT.

If you Google Beers' name, you'll find an article from Comonews that details 7 "corrections" that he had to make in his perjured testimony in a trial Sept. 2003. Clarke and Beers are team-teaching at Harvard now. Clarke also has a consulting business. His partner there is presently working at MSNBC also as a consultant.

Thanks for the latest Heads Up about Clarke. Frankly, the date of his employment with ABC is not especially significant to me, the pertinent issue is that he is NOW one of their paid talking heads. You have to ask why ABC is interested in a petty, thin-skinned, former bureaucrat like Clarke. It certainly isn't his appearance or his voice or his charisma (LOL). Nor is it likely they wanted someone on staff with loyalities to the Bush adminstration. It surely isn't due to all the lives his counter-terrorism expertise saved during the 90's. That narrows the list of reasons considerably.

I guess ABC wants to corner the market on arrogant, self-absorbed liars.

Not only is Clarke owned by ABC, his pal and the President of Clarke's company, Roger Cressey, is owned by MSNBC:
We know where our guest, Roger Cressey, is. He's the former director of Transnational Threats for the National Security Council staff, president of Good Harbor Consulting, and an MSNBC counterterrorism analyst.

Look at the small print inside the ABC logo. It reads, "Wholely Owned and Operated By The Kerry Campaign".

Yes, a search could have been done, but as it is news to many here, it nice of Howlin' to give us the heads up. It's not an embarrassment to FR, you're just touchy. ;)

I was and still am LIVID. Same here. I've been bringing articles to work listing the lies and contradictions of Clarke and how the liberal media is still presenting him as some credible critic of Bush.
The conservative radio talk shows are exposing this, FOX News is as well but we've all got to do our part in spreading the truth.
By the way, some rabid libs at my job get all flustered anytime they hear us talking about the leftist lying propaganda, but NONE try to take me on when it comes to debating the facts. Because they know they will lose.

Not touchy, I just know how the enemy operates. This thread, though well-intentioned, was based on a false premise (that Clarke was hired as a result of his smear-book and subsequent perjury). This is the kind of thing the DU'ers will hold up as a shining example of how stupid and ill-informed we are.
We're better than that. We're better than them. Now is not the time to be careless.
Just the facts. They're on our side, let's stick to them.

It will be pretty hard for him to be on the air if he is prosecuted for perjury.
To: ex-Texan
ABC would stick by him, no doubt.

Well said.
I wonder where this rumor actually started. Howlin mentioned the following Gorge Stephanopoulos quote (it turns out to be from 3/21/2004, on his ABC show "This Week"):
"Mr. Clarke has already given 14 hours of testimony to the commission investigating why the government failed to prevent those attacks," said Mr. Stephanopoulos, also noting that Mr. Clarke now works for ABC as a consultant.
I don't think she said where she found it, but I traced it down to a Washington Times article by Greg Pierce. The phrasing here suggests, without saying it outright, that Clarke was just hired by ABC (which, as we know, is false). But Pierce doesn't quote Stephanopoulos verbatim in that part of the sentence.
I'd be interested in what Stephanopoulos said exactly. Is this just a reporter's poor paraphrasing, or did Stephanopoulos start (or feed) this rumor? (Transcripts of the show are for sale, if there's anybody even more interested than I am!)

Surprise, surprise.
