"Did Clarke have the vaguest notion of Rice's background and education? Or did he think Dr. Rice was cleaning the Old Executive Office Building at night before the president chose her -- not him -- to be national security adviser? If a Republican ever claimed the "facial expression" on Maxine Waters -- a woman whose face is no stranger to confusion or befuddlement -- left the "impression" that she didn't understand quantum physics, he'd be in prison for committing a hate crime."
BWHAHAH!
Ann tells it like no one else can or will, her great looks are only overshadowed by her political knowledge, quick wit and punishing sarcasm.

Clarke's comment about Rice never having heard (in his opinion reading her facial expressions) about al Qaeda before he briefed her was so outrageous in the face of a public record contradicting it, yet Leslie Stahl let him say this and could not be bothered to do any research to expose him. (And ruin the agenda? Never!)
And Sandy Berger before the commission yesterday testified about meeting with Rice and briefing her about al Qaeda, then was asked what he thought of Clarke's observation (claimed observation) and Berger could not bring himself to agree it was obviously not true.

I was wondering when the "race card" would show up.
We ought to tread lightly here. I'd rather destroy this guy (and Kerry) on the issues and his inability to tell the truth, rather than with character assassination or insults.
That being said...it would prove VERY interesting to find out that Mr. Clarke harbors or has in the past uttered Mark Fuhrman-type racial sentiments.

I've wondered very much about this. What would it feel like for a guy who had been in the loop (very high loop) for so long to be upstaged by a black woman who is so much smarter than you are, you can't even shine her shoes?

That look of perplexity Clarke saw was Condi thinking to herself: "Hmmm, did I demote this guy far enough?" Exactly. Condi's face was probably reflecting the amazement she felt that this guy could be paid six figures to stand around stating the obvious.

Upon the release of Gary Aldrich's book "Unlimited Access" in 1996, White House adviser George Stephanopoulos immediately called TV producers demanding that they give Aldrich no airtime. In terms of TV exposure, Aldrich's book might well have been titled "No Access Whatsoever." ![](http://www.photogslounge.net/graphics/Funny%20Photos/stephanopoulos_mouse.jpg)
