That's why I think Richard Simmons will be forever popular. He was the only one who had 'real' women in his videos. You just don't see that which I can understand because who gets motivated by someone fat? But if the presenter isn't fat who cares?

His target market isn't the 20-40ish woman who wants to have a "bikini bod." That's why his real people thing works.

I think it depends on the person, and how they handle it, as to whether coming out will hurt their career. Ellen's got a successful talk show now, partly because she stopped spending all her time talking about being gay. Rosie, on the other hand, has become a professional gay, and nobody wants to hear that.
