There was quite a bit of chatter in the Capitol on Wednesday about some unexpected fireworks flying at a ceremony honoring civil rights pioneer Dorothy Height after comic Bill Cosby snubbed National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice.
Cosby decided to voice his opposition to the Bush administrations foreign policy by refusing to sit next to Rice, as organizers
had planned, at the event in which Height received the Congressional Gold Medal from President Bush and Hill leaders.
Its too bad that Mr. Cosby couldnt cross the partisan divide, especially at an event for a great civil rights leader, griped one senior Congressional aide.
Rice, whos pretty busy dealing with the fallout from ex-White House aide Richard Clarkes book, was unaware of the slight and brushed it off.
Its a free country, Deputy National Security Adviser Jim Wilkinson told HOH.
There was a bit more civility and bipartisanship on display after Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) noted that as usual, the 92-year-old Height was the best-dressed woman in the joint.
Insiders tell HOH that Bush, who was sitting between Height and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), leaned in and whispered that he thought the Congresswoman had that honor.

Bill Cosby has many outstanding virtues, and he probably is about as sage in matters of parenting as anybody in America who happens to belong to the male gender.
But his politics have ALWAYS run to the left, even though he has been one of the winners in life's lottery. Even as he has endorsed some of the more radical promises made by the left, he has always managed his own life in a fiscally and socially conservative manner. But like others here, I am puzzled at him snubbing Dr. Condoleezza Rice. Maybe it IS a gender thing.

Cosby's PHD stands for Piled Higher and Deeper.

Well, I understand that, and thank you.
Part of my problem is that I am ALSO a Condi Fan!

I like Bill Cosby's work but have not been impressed with the man himself since the orginal Donahue show was on.

Bill Cosby loved Clinton's wars. I can't find any of the photos of him with Bubba and Jerry Seinfeld right now. Even Jerry seemed put off by the gathering.

I choose to defund the left.
Maybe I can put the ugliness of their actions out of my mind when I revisit their older works but quite often I can't.
Is there something that a celebrity can do (like murder, child molestation, etc.) that will make you forever shelve their works?

IIRC, Bill Cosby has an Ed. D., not a Ph. D. You can get an Ed. D. from a Cracker Jack box.
To: weegee
Sure.... people who do really ugly things become unlikeable... but this is one story about Cosby that is more on the level of a back page gossip blurb.
I just find more joy in life by not obsessing that everything I see/buy/enjoy be politically 'correct'. Life is too short to suspect that my toilet paper might be made by a democrat.
