[history]
A former White House counterterrorism official apologized yesterday for government failures in the September 11 terrorist attacks, but his credibility was challenged during a public hearing.
"Those entrusted with protecting you failed you. And I failed you," said Richard A. Clarke, the former national coordinator for counterterrorism in the Clinton and Bush administrations.

It reminds me of the Paul O'Neil picture of the Bush administration, "a roomful of blind and deaf people", when he says he was being ignored. Which of course turned out to be absolutely false. I'm perplexed by the whole thing.
Everyone is focusing on BJ Clinton and Dubya with reference to 9/11 and not an iota of reference has been made to Congress.
It makes me contemplate the reasoning for the hearings in the first place.

A WTC victim family stated that they were glad Clarke made his statements because they needed to be said, even tho he has credibility problems.

Clarke has been hired as a consultant to ABC. We will be hearing from him every day until the election. If he isn't in front of the camera we can count on his ideas being spewed by others at ABC.

And I made the case I was asked to make," Mr. Clarke said.
The guy admits he's a puppet and a liar so in all probability his strings are being pulled right now and guess, by who?

Clarke's book is already slithering into the remainder bins. I was in a Border's last weekend; and this piece of odious pulp - just now published - had a 30 percent reduction sticker on it.
