I'm now getting the argument on lefty websites that Clarke is credible because he's a Republican. Of course, the only reason to believe he's a Republican is because -he- said he was (i.e. we know that Clarke is credible because of something that Clarke said).

I saw someone on another thread earlier found that Clarke's only political donation was to some local congresswoman or something? Does anyone recall where that post was? I can't find it :(

It was on the live thread but that's up to 3000 posts.

I remember one of the beneficiaries of a Dick Clarke-Kent $2000 political donation was some democratic congressman from Missouri. All I remember. Sorry

According to Kristol, any office that deals with National Security under any President is supposed to be nonpartisan, so that the heads of those offices can go from one President to the next. Clarke is a liberal holdover from the Clinton maladministration.

That cracks me up. My liberal friends are stuck on this too. They all cling to turncoat Republicans, everything they say is gold...take the same guy, have him say something good about Bush and they'd be lambasting him.

Intellectual honesty--that's all I'm asking for...

Clarke is the worst kind of spook, a psychotic who hears voices and is loyal to no one save his inner demon, which makes him strive to be the center of attention.

Faced with the reality that his "services" were no longer required, he has alas degenerated into the typical apparatchik "I will take down those who have betrayed me" mode.

He is small potatoes.
